I always knew I wasn't an alpha because I don't like to dominate but I never allow someone to dominate me either so I knew I wasn't a beta.
This fits perfectly for me but I don't think it's that rare

This is a description of a mostly healed personality, which I agree with now, but once, never would have thought so kindly of myself to see in this positive way.
Many of these traits can be seen as being threatening or aggressive and needs attending to early in the relationship, so the full benefits or beauty were never fully realized until the inner working was understood
