Generation Alpha is DOOMED

Are Generation Alpha as doomed as everyone says? Yes, and No. A bit part of it is Millennial parenting, but you can't entirely blame them when the world isn't supportive of young families.

A huge issue is the “no kids left behind” act that was passed, they are pushing kids forward who need held back

I'm gen z and my cousin is a millennial. I've watched her raise her gen alpha kids by just placating them with an iPhone. She let's her young daughter use tiktok and thinks it's fine. I don't think all gen Alpha is doomed. But her kids are. She still acts like a 22 year old at 32 and it's terrifying

yeah I remember when gen z had the "violent videogames" era when parents were really concerned that we become mindless criminals because we played gta 5 at the age of 13 lol.

I am early gen Z (2003). My brother was born in 2019 and I am extremely dissatisfied and annoyed with my parents for the way they are “raising” him. When I was young there were rules, when they said something it meant something and I HAD to do what they said otherwise I would get punished, not by my phone being taken or computer taken… i was not allowed outside to play with my friends! Now, with my brother they have no authority over him, he literally says NO when told something and then throws a tantrum and gets off the hook. Of course he also has a tablet to which he is glued the whole day. I am sad for him that he won’t experience playing outside in a group of 20/30 kinds from dusk till dawn. Sad that if he doesn’t have his tablet he doesn’t know how to play, with or without toys. And whenever I call them out on their shitty parenting they get angry and tell me I can raise my own kids however I want when I have them. I try to be a good brother and get him off the tablet and invite him to go play outside or play a board game together but he would rather what skibidi toilet on Youtube shorts… I am worried about what will become of him.

As a Gen Z with a Gen Alpha little sister, I can not stand it. She learns bad words every day because of the iPad. Yesterday she walked up to me and asked “are you gay and trans?” Seriously! I can’t believe what she does. Today I wouldn’t give her the iPad because I was babysitting her and wanted to be responsible and mature and try not to give in so she doesn’t get more brain rot. But then she screamed and punched me, made my nose bleed, and went to the kitchen, climbed on the counter, and grabbed a knife. She said “I know how to kill!” And I freaked out.

I’m a gen alpha (13) but I sadly did grow up with electronics and I’ll be completely honest, not a good idea on my parents part at all (especially without parental supervision) I saw many things I shouldn’t have and have done many things I shouldn’t have either and it still haunts me every night. I’ve developed a depressive disorder because of all the negativity I was given on the internet when I was younger that I have to be medicated for. So future parents out there please PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR KIDS and please GIVE THEM A GOOD CHILDHOOD!!!

I got it tough, ADHD, Autism, Gender Dysphoria, Depression, Anxiety, but a supportive and caring household got me on the medications that i need to function normally. I notice a lot of the kids in gen alpha being dumb videos are a lot like when i was before i was on medications.

I’m in high school and I can see the problems with the school system, so far in ONE year 14 of the teachers left the school (around 1k students) which really is saying something

It makes me so mad that people get upset about iPad kids but no one looks at the parents. It’s parents failing to parent children. To actually watch them and take care of them. Instead they give them electronics so they don’t have to do shit.

Unrestricted access to the Internet lead me to see my first beheading video at 12 years old, now did it scar me, a little bit but that wasn't the worst thing ive seen on the Internet.

I’m Zoomer-Alpha, but i’m not a “sephora kid” or a “skibidi toilet, sigma” or whatever. I play outside, i spend my time with friends, not with the phone.

As an older gen alpha(13) who was not allowed on the internet till I was 10-11 it hurts me to see the younger kids I interact with so fixated on electronics

As someone who works in animation, the “how many seconds for each scene” part was so fascinating! 😮

I worked in education for 7 years, getting out of it in 2016. Over that time, I could see the beginning of the decline. It became very easy to identify those kids who had been raised on devices.

1. Extremely limited attention span - usually 2-3 mins at best. Easily bored and distracted.
2. Poor memory - unable to retain something that was covered moments before.
3. Zero imagination - unable to think up an original idea.
4. Stunted communication / interaction skills - no understanding of group work, turn-based activities, etc.
5. Academically backward - several years behind in numeracy and literacy.

Eight years later and I can't imagine how bad things must be now.

I was born in 2001, and let me tell you how SHOCKED I was when I watched old home videos of my family and I and how involved everyone is. Sure, you could always read a book or listen to music if you wanted, but no one was glued to them. The attention span is normal and everyone seems to be enjoying each other’s company like way more. I’m glad I didn’t grow up with an Ipad in my face and these kids deserve better. We really need to limit these for everyone, not just kids. Can’t imagine how harmful it must be to their development
