We welcome our wonderful friend Rabea Massaad to the show and build a whole new touring pedalboard for him.

Life too short for long YouTube videos? ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ info below.

Welcome! In this episode we are delighted to welcome our old mucker, Rabea Massaad back to the show. Not only is Rabea genuinely among the best humans we know, he’s also a truly gifted, creative and inspirational musician.

Rabea plays through the Toska track ‘Prayermonger’ at the end of the show. He literally stood there and played the guitar parts over a backing track. We watched totally agog!
Enjoy the episode!

COVID 19: Before you lambast us for not socially excluding, read this…
This video was filmed before the UK lockdown measures. As I explain in the intro, Rabea was on his way to us when the UK government started making noises about being careful about travel around March 16/17. The actual instruction to stay at home did not come until March 23 in the UK. As of that date, we have been working from home and self-isolating in accordance with the government instruction and advice.

Dan is such a romantic. When Bea was doing the swells he just closed his eyes and sat in it like he'd never heard of That Pedal Show. I love the way he loves sound. It's such a pure thing. God love you Mr. Steinhardt. I very much appreciate your passion.

Lol, I remember when Bea only used 3 boss pedals on a tiny board, he now has a full Mars mission command console for tone, and rocket launches.

Blessed are the pedalboard builders for they shall inherit good tone.

One of the many many things I love about Rabea's playing is his use of the volume control.

I like how Dan reacts to people like Rabea playing. He's like an old black woman at a southern Baptist Church. Eyes closed waiting to shout amen while the pastor gets excited.

"How many pedal geeks does it take to open a box?"

One hundred. 1 to open the box, and 99 to say the vintage one sounded better.

I appreciate that Rebea uses his pedals as song writing tools. Every sound lends itself to a melody.

I love it when Dan shuts his eyes and enjoys the sound. He looks like some sort of tone monk.

Mick: “How do you keep your bottom tight?”
Rabea: “Plenty of squats.”

I adore how much Dan allows himself to be carried away in those sounds and progressions. You can just feel him disappearing for a moment.

I love watching Dan close his eyes and lean his head back while he just soaks in the tone.

This is totally not the type of music I would listen to being an old classic rocker but I watched the whole of this episode. I was amazed at some of the sounds coming out of that rig. Bea is an epic player who' s passion clearly shows and I for one hope he has an equally epic future he should be right up there. Totally nice, friendly chap I appreciate his skill. Dan and Mick this is probably one of the best episodes if not the best you have done. I am dumbfounded thank you for this I don't think in all my years I have been so moved listening to something and opening my eyes to something new this coming from a player (30 watt amp Gibson Les Paul and overdrive). Epic. Cheers.

The way Dan sits and listens to Bea play is exactly how I listen to Bea play. He is one of my very favorite players ever. I love his style and his tones, and they've influenced me a lot, and I've only just heard of him in the last several years. But that feeling of just closing my eyes and being immersed in that blanket of sound never leaves me. I love this episode. Thank all 3 of you (and everyone else involved) for doing this. I love all of you.

There’s something hypnotic and addictive about watching a pedal board being built, regardless of who it’s for and what’s on it.

When I first stumbled across Rabea, I found that whilst I truly love heavy guitar tones and metal beastliness, I didn't really connect with him or his playing - what's really apparent from this video is that he has matured into an absolutely cracking player, and an all round genuine lovely human being. No ego, no pretence, just a genuine love and passion for his music. Consider me connected!

Anybody else notice Mr. Massaad acting just like a kid in a candy store? Awesome stuff, seeing the child-like joy in the way you were all into this build is certainly a bright spot in these uncertain times, thanks for doing your small part in making people's day a little better!

This is one of the best episodes you guys have ever done. A masterclass in how to do high gain with an integrated amp/board setup, and some of the best sounds. If you haven't listened with headphones do it now! Serious props to Rabea for the ideas and the playing.

What makes Bea so great to me is his versatility in both heavy and softer styles and how good he is at both. The depth of his talent is just sick.

The way the 3 Strymon pedals fit into the top left perfectly at 6:10 is so satisfying.
