I like it when Rabea is on. he is an individual with his own take. I like that. Plus we are kind of hair brothers.

Bea's such a monster player and sound fella, it's hard not to love him. Rock on big lad.

I agree with Rabea on this one. For me the amp and cab as part of the setup is just something I need on most applications.

Never comment on here but at this point Mr.M deserves his own “the captain meets”. This is not the same dude I saw almost 15 years ago with the chap. Please at least change the title. This man has educated such a wide variety of people and players and if he’s no longer associated with the store than please give him his flowers as such a profoundly influential player on people pushing their 30s like me!

Man Pete and bea’s jams were legendary!

This is a really good conversation. It's almost as if music production can be kinda complicated or something.

I have to say this hybrid set up with QC seems really cool.

For what it’s worth, you don’t have to be young to not enjoy the loud-amp-in-the-room experience. I’m older than Lee, and I’ve never enjoyed it. I’ve been really happy that technology has been able to get me the sound I want live. And, really, it was good enough for me in the nineties. What the tech can do today is more than I’d dreamed. (Although now it has me dreaming bigger. 🙂)

Great interview. Having a hybrid rig makes a lot of sense. Megadeth used a QC through power amp and cabs on stage and the sound was huge.

As a massive Bea fan and someone who's about to go down this same route, seeing this in my subs was a dream come true

My practice rig is hybrid, victory kraken v4 preamp (all valve) into a two notes cabm for power amp and speaker emulation. Run the whole thing with other effects pedals I need and listen via headphones on the cabm. so far feels amazing, sounds amazing.

Love that stereo de- tuned moment. Would be great to have the de- tune dynamic meaning on an expression pedal. Big Fan Rabea. Montreal

I've recently converted to modellers after 15 years of dancing around a pedal board and I'm on both sides of the digital vs valve as i agree with what lee says getting familiar with the quad takes time and it kind of feels like you need to have a PHD to use the thing but after playing and some simple fiddling you can get a decent tone, yes it is easier to just turn an amp on and plug a pedal board in and get the tone you want but you're restricted to that tone.

The beauty of a modeller is you've got everything you want in one unit, you won't take up a lot of space on stage and have options as to how you output the tone versus taking up space on stage that most venues don't have especially if you're playing pub gigs, thousands of pounds of pedals and lugging in a lot of equipment.

The old school will need to embrace the new school just like we have had to do with electric cars and combustion engines.

I’ve used a modeler into xlr/in ears but split the signal before the IR block and use a power amp into a proper cab.

It’s less complicated than lugging around a valve amp and tons of wires and it sounds and feels amazing.
