LYRICS:
It's been a long time since I watched these lights alone
I look around my life tonight and you are gone
I might have done something to keep you if I'd known
How unhappy you had become
While I was dreaming of you
With my heart in your hands
And I was following through
With my beautiful plans

Yeah now I'm rolling down this canyon drive
With your laughter in my head
I'm going to have to block it out somehow to survive
Because those dreams are dead
And I'm alive

I want to go where I will never hear your name
I want to lose my sorrow and be free again
And I know I've been insane
When I think of places I could have been
But I was dreaming of you
With my heart in your hands
And I was following through
With my beautiful plans

Standing here by the highway side
Watching these trucks blow by
Inches from my face
Yeah thinking about the time I've wasted
And the pleasure we once tasted
Looking up and down this road
I've been here before
I can't be here no more

Yeah now I'm rolling down California five
With your laughter in my head
I'm going to have to block it out somehow to survive
Because those dreams are dead
I'm alive

Hey look at the way I believed in you
And loved you all these years
Now you can fill a swimming pool with all my salty tears
If you'd have told me what was in your heart
But baby you lied
And I thought that it would kill me
But I'm alive

Jackson Browne, your music is life. You have brought me out of the deepest funks in my life. You healed me after my divorce in the early 80s and let me love again. Your music always brings a smile to my face and happiness in my heart.

Jackson has stayed alive during the pandemic with his home recordings which are just as great. And I love his fellow musicians Greg and Val and more!

The magic of JB takes me way back to the day I bought Late for the sky. I'm 67 now and I still float to a better place when I hear him. Thank you for the music!

I was engaged to a guy in the early 90’s. He met my family and all…proposed to me…and within weeks he confessed he had made his ex wife pregnant. The humiliation was HUGE! And within days I had to go to a trade show (small company so traveled alone) and had to show a smile. I seriously can’t fake a smile…or any emotion. Anyhow…I had this CD with me. It saved my life. It saved my life in SO many ways. 🥰 I wish I had the word for how grateful I am. I guess thank you would be the words…but I feel much more gratitude than thank you. 🥰

If I close my eyes while listening to him I can still see the pretty young musician of the 70s. His voice hasn’t changed at all, wise beyond his years, with a heart heard in his lyrics. 💖

After a long and successful career, the passion for his craft is still self-evident.

Jackson has aged more gracefully than any other artist, like a fine wine.

He's not had a comcert in the UK since pre covid times last saw him in glasgow 2017 and I don't think he'll be back. Grew up on him from world in motion album thanks to my dad now we're 70 and 38 respectively. Thanks JB for the music. without you, as a 90s kid, I wouldn't know what real music is.

This came out the year I turned 20.
I was in a different place, driving around listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Cypress Hill.
Even though Jackson Browne had ruled my 80's as I grew up, I didn't have time for this it wasn't "in my wheelhouse".
Then I saw this performance on Austin City Limits.
It spoke to my heart and who I am now more than I dug out the Very Best of now it sounds crisp and grand to my blasting on my speakers while I drive.

Still got the pipes, great lyrics, whole band is tight. Such a nice Martín too! The pause in the riff section so sweet. Glad I’m alive
