And normally he gets annoyed with me when I sing to him, but this song he just sits and watches me until I’m done. I replace “my girl” with “my boy” and his name.

As my daughter grew up she figured out that I loved this song. She had it planned at her wedding for this to play as a father/daughter dance tune and people in attendance could not do that (dancing) without breaking down and crying having to give my daughter away. In an unspoken way we both know that this is now our song.
