France executed nuclear weapons tests in the areas of Reggane and In Ekker in Algeria and the Mururoa and Fangataufa Atolls in French Polynesia, from 13 February 1960 through 27 January 1996. These totaled 210 tests with 210 device explosions, 50 in the atmosphere.

Even though we humans use this kind of power as weapons to threaten each other, i think detonations from nuclear fission/fusion reactions are pretty awe inspiring to see.
Radioactive fallout and destructive purpose aside, nuclear weapons are a small scale example of the energy that keeps the stars alive; very fascinating.

My father was in nuclear weapons for many many years before his 26years USMC retirement, so I inherently have a fascination with these devices. As everyone watching this has an interest in the subject and has probably seen just as many videos as I have, I'm sure they can agree that the quality is outstanding. They almost look innocuous and peaceful. It all stops there.

The fallout from one of the French tests in Algeria fell over Turkey - and likely over a large swath of the eastern Mediterranean. My father tells me of the black rain from the fallout of one of those tests when he was a young man.
