I'm trying to decide on which model is best for me and why. I'd rather buy the 20amp unit for price and the 60amp unit for fast charging but I'm guessing there are other factors such as the alternator and or the batteries I'm trying to charge. My van has a 90amp alternator, one car battery and 3 AGM batteries that presently are charged with a solar mppt charge controller. So which should I purchase and why? Despite reading a lot and watching multiple videos on the subject there is little information about sizing the DC to DC charger

hello I've fitted the Renogy 40 amp DC to DC charger to my motorhome could you tell me which of the 5 switches I need on to charge my 2 x 110 deep cycle AGM lead acid leisure batteries from my alternator

I bought one of theses, the 20A Renogy DC-DC on board battery charger, model DCC1212-20. I placed a 30A breaker on the pos line from the starter battery to the device, as per the instructions. However, the breaker keeps flipping. I changed it out, but the new one keeps flipping. So this device is not charging my house battery because of this. I have a 150 amp alternator. Before I bought the device, I called Renogy and was told to buy the 20A device. No, the Renogy customer service number hangs up after it plays the initial introduction message.  

What do you recommend?

There is a selenoid in my rig. Do I have to disconnect the selenoid cables to use the dc-dc charger? Will keeping it hooked up mess anything up?

How can i determine which charger is safe for my system? I purchased the 40amp, but have not installed yet.

Does the DC-to-DC charge need to be wired directly to the alternator in any way? Or does the charger only get wired directly to the starter battery? On the phone, Renogy's customer service told me it needs to be wired directly to the alternator, but I have my doubts about that based on this video. Any help here?

I am thinking I could just replace my RV battery isolator relays under the hood with this, no need to do both right? Is it waterproof enough for that? I understand the D+ switch line, could this be wired to the alternator DC output? Thus ensureing the charger does not draw any power unless the engine is running? The way I see it here ( I think) is that its recomended to the ignition switch, but then the charger could be drawing power with the switch in ACC/engine off right?

Really confused. I have just purchased your 20A version.Your online instructions say for a lithium lifepo4 battery the dip switches should all be set to OFF. ( Switches 1&2 OFF = cut off charge voltage @ 14.7v / Switches 3&4 not used as there for floating volts not needed on lithium battery and Switch 5 set to OFF to note it's Lithium.) So which order is correct as I don't want to risk ruining an expensive new battery! Please help

Would this work better than just using my alternator to charge my batteries? They are all lead-acid due to the lower cost, not lithium.

I want to charge my trailer battery for my winch system. This way the battery will stay charged when I connect my 12v supply on the trailer plug. But not how this unit is to shut down when operating the winch system ... Is there any wiring diagrams on my type of application?
