Thank you so much for talking about the “makeup addiction” thing! My father died of a heroin overdose and it really frustrates me to see people equate having too many lipsticks to actual addiction. Real addiction kills people and ruins lives. Occasionally buying too much makeup doesn’t count.

I see a lot of Stacies doing this with every intersection possible?? like with discourse about colourism/anti-blackness in asian/latinx societies, there's always some Stacy or other out here calling us backwards or uncivilised while casually kicking her own white privilege under the rug lmao. like yes it is a very important issue and we should be actively fighting it but you using colonialist language to pit poc against each other is Not It!! it just isn't!! it also happens with classism and ableism too and it drives me up the damn wall.

sorry about the rant it just happens /so much/ in the makeup (and literary) community. people who hijack the social issue du jour to villainise other marginalised groups need to turn on their location, I just want to talk.

I second that foundation comment so much. So many foundation reviews literally only wear it for like, 8 hours tops, for ONE day and then they be like "It's so amazing and beautiful and I love it so much."

Nobody’s lipstick “addiction” is gonna cause their heart to stop and breathing to stop and complete body shutdown cause you can’t overdose on lipstick. I od’d at work and collapsed in front of everyone was also about to be pronounced dead after getting hit with narcan 5x + and constant cpr work for over 20 minutes but then one of the officers that arrived said just hit her one more time with the narcan and I popped up. Then had to be rushed to the hospital because I still kept going in and out. Found out there was much fentynal in the dope I bought that day. & of course when all was said and done and I was released i went and looked for that same dope just knowing to do way less than I did the first time. 😒 but I’m clean now only 1 year & 6 months but I truly feel I’ll never go back ☕️

other than your scary lighting situation... yes to everything in your video! yes to slapping on colored powders and goops without being heinous! yes to us all spending less money and influencers telling fewer blatant lies! yes to critical thinking! yes to being nice!

and if I could add one: let’s also leave wasteful product packaging in 2018. I partially mean all that horrifying PR packaging, but I would also love to see brands try really hard to reduce the amount of plastic in their normal packaging. PR probably looks the most egregious when it’s broadcast on YouTube but when millions of people all buy some mascara that contains X amount of plastic, that really adds up. like, I wanna see big makeup brands try to do what lush does with their packaging.
