I have apraxia of speech and I’m 19. I was in speech therapy all my life and all the way thru school and graduated from speech therapy in 12th grade. It was a lot of hard work and it wouldn’t have been possible without my mom advocating me all the time in classes and got me special accommodations to help. I sound like any other kid and nobody knows I have a speech disorder, in fact, nobody has asked me anything about my speech since grade 6. If you are a worried parent with a childhood diagnosis. Don’t trip about it your kid will be absolutely perfect. I have a girlfriend and am attending college when I was told I was never gonna be able to speak.

My five year old granddaughter has been attending speech therapy since she was two years old. I'm very impressed with her therapist and how she works with her. My precious granddaughter has come a long way and her self confidence has greatly improved. She's a bright girl and my nine year old grandson is a big help when I can't quite comprehend what she's saying. I'm impressed with this man and the therapist in this video have a patient/client relationship that's built on acceptance and trust.

Is it true that apraxic people my say a word that he doesn't want to say? Like he would say that this is yellow when he wants to say it's red?
Is it true that an apraxic kid would point to the wrong object inspite of him wanting to point to another because he cannot control his muscles?
