OJ Simpson’s disastrous courtroom glove fitting remains burned into America’s brain

The late OJ Simpson goes down in history for his notorious 1995 murder trial, with no moment more visually memorable than his courtroom glove fitting. When Simpson tried to put on the bloody black gloves found at the scene of the crime, he squirmed and struggled to fit his hands into them, which made them appear to be too small for the football player. While prosecutors had thought the gloves were among the strongest evidence because DNA tests showed blood on them contained genetic markers for Simpson, Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, the case went up in flames. During closing statements, Simpson’s defense attorney, Johnnie Cochran, proclaimed “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” Simpson was ultimately found not guilty.

Everyone knows that a blood soaked glove will shrink after it is dried after time. Why didn't the prosecutor pursue this???

Why didn't Marcia Clark challenge this? The second I saw this I said, "He has latex gloves on. Also, those gloves had been wet from the blood and dried. This makes leather shrink. This wasn't a trial, it was a TV series.

This was a classic. Johnny Cochran could sell ice to Eskimos. Defense VS prosecution was like pros VS novices.

Let's not forget that this was a massive failure of the Prosecution in this case. The fact they let him try those gloves on in front of the jury without already knowing ahead of time whether or not they would fit was the dumbest possible thing they could do. They handed the Defense their best evidence.
