Marvel Comics Executive Editor Tom Brevoort knows X-Men fans are pissed they are replacing pages of story with QR codes that link to webpages. But vows X-Men and Marvel will continue to rip-off customers for the foreseeable future to prevent spoilers. New Uncanny X-Men writer Gail Simone is also out on social media defending the scam in X-Men #1, Phoenix #1 and NYX #1. This entire controversy was easily avoidable if Breevoort, Simone and others thought about what there are doing. Wes explains the X-Men QR code controversy, the second major incident in the first month of X-Men From the Ashes. Marvel vow to rip-off X-Men fans for the foreseeable future.

Fans: "We hate this."
Marvel: "We understand...and nothing will change."

Someone should have explained it to C.B. Cebulski in terms he could understand. It’s like buying a pizza, opening the box, and finding one of the slices missing.

Incredibly it was to help avoid spoilers, meanwhile Marvel themselves spoiled the end of Blood Hunt a week in advance.

Success comes from adding value, not breaking the experience. Ridiculous.

The QR codes extra pages was a very stupid idea. What the hell Brevoort are thinking? Who wanna expend 5 bucks in a incomplete comic book? Makes no sense. Marvel are killing the sales of this X-Men relaunch already since the start. Marvel just can't stop himself to piss off your costumers and old readers. What crazy times we're living now.

Didn't even notice I had missed the QR until this video for Phoenix #1 NYX #1 X-Men #1! Imagine other readers being as confused about the story. Thought the last page was an advertisement.

All they did was officially kill my interest in picking up an X-Men comic. It isn't enough we're getting mediocre stories nowadays but to pull this crap on top of it all just accelerated the demise of western comics.

I skip QR codes, supporting online comic writers who actually enjoy hearing from fans.

What happens when they take the website down?

This remind me of the episode of mash where where they are reading a mystery book, but the last page is missing.

I think this discourages purchasing the individual issues, since the actual art can't be found inside the issue itself. It also takes away from the value of the issues for the same reason.

These folks are truly brilliant. They're almost too smart for the rest of us, and I think that's why our enjoyment of Marvel comics has declined. It's because our pea-brains just can't keep up with Brevoort's and Co.'s genius.

"What? Don't you guys have phones?"

Jesus Christ, who thought this was a good idea?

Like Marvel needed another excuse for me NOT to buy their books. The terrible writing and art were huge factors in skipping Marvel. The QR codes are just the nugget of corn in the turd. I’ll stick with Energon Universe and the Ghost Machine books for the foreseeable future. Otherwise, a back catalogue of classic books will scratch that superhero itch.

So the only reason why its done. Is to prevent early leaks. When a store gets the books. And their answer is for people to double dip. Because that last page isn't staying up on the servers in 40 years.

At this point, I’m surprised that Disney didn’t make Marvel hide the QR code page behind some kind of paywall.

But...why would they assume that all the major spoilers would always end up on the last page?

If this starts showing up in the books I read I’m done with single issues. Literally giving the least comic to the people who pay the most per issue. Might as well wait for the trade or marvel unlimited

This was such a bad idea. People who buy physical, don't want a digital page.

There are no excuses for this stupidity. I don't know what kind of game they think they're playing here other than to piss people off.
