Keeping with the minor league theme, you should do AHL arenas

Changing the Maine Red Claws from a cool regionally accurate name to the Celtics again was a sin

A cool thing about the Mad Ants arena is that it hosted NBA basketball in the 1950s, before the Pistons moved to Detroit.

Worth noting the Oklahoma City Blue played in the convention center across the street from the Paycom Center, but it got purchased by a movie studio to become their new studios so they got kicked out and had to move across the street.

Some look like arenas, some look like roller skating rinks, feed storage sheds, meat production plants, buildings found at a turnpike rest stop, lumber storage sheds…. Hey, the G-League has done a good job for what it is.

Now if we could do a video of the old, defunct World Basketball League that would be about the same type of building as these.

4:24 Ft. Wayne resident here. Did you know that a street close to the arena was originally called Harry Baals Drive? And no, that's not a typo, our city's longest serving mayor in history had the name Harry Baals.

Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines is the home of both the Iowa Wolves & Iowa Wild.

This is great. Not enough attention is given to the minors.

I would argue that NCAA fulfills more of the role of a minor league for the NBA, and the G League is closer a last chance in the evaluation window a player will get.

I wish OKC would move the g league team back to Tulsa and make them the 66ers again

I work a lot of events at Comerica Center. It's not the worst place in the G League, but it can be a beating to get to the seats, which require you to take an escalator to the upper level, then walk down (though, floor seating is accessible from the main entrance concourse - such as it is). It wasn't designed like most arenas where you have the main concourse effectively at street level (similar to the American Airlines Center - and don't get me started on that antiquated eyesore in Dallas). There are 3-4 different concession stands in the south concourse and a few pop up stands (which are quite are pricy by minor league venue standards, even compared to AT&T Stadium, so plan accordingly) and, depending on the event, promo tables along the relatively narrow north concourse, which can make navigating that part of the arena difficult. You do, however, get a nice "360 view" from the concourses and the videoboards at the southern corners of the arena are somewhat similar to the set up at Toyota Stadium (also in Frisco). The southern end of the arena is used as a "party zone" and there's a merchandise stand there as well.

Better than most of the major basketball arenas around the world

I’m quite happy to see my tiny hometown of Santa Cruz on here. The Boardwalk was my first job.

Couple of ex NBA arenas. The obvious one is of course the Nassau coliseum which didn't just host the Islanders but also the New York/New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets during their ABA days and is the place where they won their 2 ABA titles.

The second is surprisingly Fort Wayne which was home to the Fort Wayne (Zollner) Pistons which eventually moved to Detroit. They were originally a factory team, similar vfl Wolfsburg in the football. The arena was built for them and hosted 2 NBA finals(although one marred by Match fixing rumors)

I actually live in Southaven, MS (about 20 minutes south of downtown Memphis) and have been to the Landers Center (or as it used to be known, the DeSoto Civic Center) many times. From the time it opened until about 4 years ago the primary tenant was a minor league hockey team called the Mississippi RiverKings. They used to draw great crowds (usually around 5, 000 people on a Friday or Saturday night) but folded a few years ago. I have been to a few of the Hustle games and none of them have had more than about 100 people there. They do use the place for concerts, most recently for Foreigner back in October, and Morgan Wallen set to play here in the near future. It also played host to a campaign rally for former President Trump back in September of 2018, as well as one for former Vice President Cheney back in 2007 or so. It's also used for high school graduations for all of the public schools in DeSoto County. I even had to go there for work every so often pre-pandemic as I work for a bankruptcy attorney and 341 meetings with the Trustee were held in one of the conference rooms. Also starting next month, the Landers Center will begin playing host to the Memphis Americans, a minor league indoor soccer team. And just last week they announced that there's going to be a $35 million expansion project of sorts with the addition of a convention center and a hotel, all of which is supposed to be completed by 2024.
