I think my favorite part of this is the look on Westley’s face when Inigo, the man who has voiced his intention to kill Westley, literally hands Westley his sword

As a kid I loved the sword fight and witty banter during it. As an adult I love the conversation before it. The way Wesley understands the depth of Inigo's passion instantly when he swears on the soul of his father. The amount of vulnerability shown between the two of them, both physically and mentally, but neither of which took advantage of it. They're both outstanding characters and they did an amazing job showing you the understanding and respect Wesley is capable of.

I love how meta the opening section is where they’re feeling each other out and calling out each other’s style choices.

I've been so lost in these characters and their meeting that I never registered those insane rocks in Westley's boot when he empties it out until now. The whole scene is so sincere that I've been tuning that gag out for 20 years.

So...Inigo trained for twenty years. Wesley for 5. So why did Wesley win?
Well I'm thinking that Inigo was too young when his father died to begin real training right away. He likely didn't start serious fencing until he was fully grown.
Then it was a difference in practical application. Inigo was learning from book smarts, whereas Wesley was in the rough and tumble pirate world of life or death.
Still...Inigo likely should have won. Pirates wouldnt have access to professional technique.
