You didn't invite (include) your standard user to another group (i.e. wheel).
When you ran "freebsd -update" appeared "src not installed, skipped".

I haven't used FreeBSD since version 4.4 and I have a vague memory of having to set up firewall rules (or something) before exposing my computer to the Internet. Is that still the case, or are those rules (or whatever) dealt with by the FreeBSD installer?

I have two internal drives and although they are of very different capacities (250GB and 2TB) there's so little information about them on screen, I don't know how to tell them apart during installation. Suggestions?

My system freaks out when I remove the installation medium when you tell me to. So either your instructions don't work for my machine, or they are out of date. Or something else is wrong. I'm installing on a dell latitude e7450.
