Music makers in video games are genuinely underrated. Without music, a game can become really boring without it, so dont neglect your music makers. Or any colleagues, matter of fact.

I contacted a random youtuber with 30 subs who had one video posted, which was a remix of megalovania from 4 years ago. Turns out, he actually is a talented musician who now helps with my indie projects

You would be surprised how affordable some sweet tunes can be if you find the right people. But don't take advantage of them. Give them what they are worth or learn to make your own music. (could prove worth while in the long run.) :)

When I mentioned I was making a game to my friend he offered to make some music for it since he wanted to practice. I agreed, and a month later the man comes back with a beautiful, professional sounding waltz for me. It was awesome, but suddenly the Frogger clone I made for practice felt a little bit undercooked lmao

Before you start the game start with a theme.
A sketch of what you want and ideas.
Then try and find a model of it. Once modeled. See if your idea can work. Do this by posting the prototype model movement and concept to an online forum. If people want it say you’re looking for help to make it better. Go on from there a few years latter you got a hit game.

Unpopular fact, but AI is actually an option for making music now. It's crazy how far technology is getting.

I'm NOT saying that this is a good route, and if you read the replies you can see how others feel about it; however, if you have absolutely zero music knowledge, this would be an easy way to get it done. I DO NOT recommended it, but I am just stating that this is an option.
