On June 28th 2023 - Harrison Ford will embark on his last adventure as Indiana Jones in THE DIAL OF DESTINY, finally bringing an end to a cinematic legacy that spans three decades - but does that mean the end of Indiana Jones?

Today we'll be exploring the wild world of Indiana Jones video games and tracing it's history from it's early days in the arcade through to it's death on the Xbox and PlayStation. Along the way we'll cover everything from Monkey Island to Star Wars, Tomb Raider to Uncharted, The NES to the Nintendo 64 - all in hopes of discovering what the future could hold for Henry Jones Junior.

It's part critique, part retrospective, part review and part history lesson - obviously full of spoilers and obviously full of my opinions.

Don’t want to sound too over the top here 😅 But your research, voiceover and presentation set the gold standard for retrospectives on YouTube.
You should be really proud. Keep up the great work!

Am I the only person who actually wanted to watch this instead of just waking up to it?

I was the lead designer and writer of Staff of Kings PSP, and this video MADE MY DAY. We were always working with limited budgets and timeframes at Amaze, and the end of a project was usually a letdown as we let the game stumble out the door. Hearing someone appreciate one of those old games, so many years later, really makes me happy. Thank you!

(I work at Undead Labs now, and these days, we get to take WAY TOO LONG on a game, instead!)

The Emperor’s Tomb was my introduction to Indiana Jones. My mom bought me the game, and told me that it was based on a big movie series by the guy that did Star Wars (I was such a huge SW kid) I absolutely loved the game and she showed me the movies around the same time. Needless to say, I was hooked and obsessed. Went as Indy multiple times for Halloween, made videos in my backyard with my whip, had nearly every lego set.
Thank you Emperor’s Tomb

3:24:35 hearing this, thinking about how successful Indiana Jones and the Great Circle ended up being, is so glorious

Haven’t even played the Indiana Jones games but absolutely loved how thorough, insightful and well written this retrospective was.

As someone who was the target age of Lego games when the Lego Indy games came out, I can actually say that a lot of us grew up on these movies (thanks to our parents having grown up on them too) and so we were never confused by the cutscenes' reliance on knowledge of the source material. Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars trilogy were staples of my, and other kids', childhoods.

This is a video I either always wake up to or it's in my recommendations after another longer video that I have fallen asleep towards either way due to your dedication I'll be watching this video throughout the next week and a half😭✊🏾

The amount of context, research, and information in this video is insane and very well done.

Finally finished this video. First of all, I just want to say that editing my last video took longer than it needed to because I kept getting distracted by this. Second of all, as if it needs to be said, outstanding job. I've had so little time to watch long-form videos like I used to because of my own work schedule, but I genuinely look forward to your videos. You maintain such a great, relaxed pace so as to appreciate the minutiae of each game, but also keep me looking forward to what's coming next.

In terms of appreciating video game history & it's quirks, yours is the definitive channel, far as I'm concerned.

A little known fact: in "The Last Crusade - The adventure game", you can prevent Elsa to leave with the grail, saving her. This really shows how Lucasarts was committed to give the players as much freedom approaching the puzzles as possible!

Great Nostalgic video! I was born in 71. I’m happy that I got to grow up in the 70’s and 80’s. The 90’s was great to. I’ll always love Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Retro Gaming, etc. I still watch the movies and play games on the Atari, Colecovision and NES. A big shout out for Yars Revenge! One of my favorites on the Atari 2600. 👍

Hyped because Fate of Atlantis is literally one of the best games ever.

Edit: I’m glad you brought up the voice acting for Indy in Fate of Atlantis. The impression of Harrison Ford as Indy that Doug Lee does is uncanny. Just amazing.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on DOS was the only game my dad played with me. I still have the physical journal they included to solve puzzles. Thanks for reminding me of these games.
