Migration into Russia are very significant to central asian countries, like for example almost 10% of Tajikistan economy are based on remittances from Tajik workers

Because of this policy, nowadays Russia has one of the largest migrant population in the world, just only behind US and Germany.

As a Russian I've been waiting for this particular video so long I can't remember. Maybe Putin fans in the West see him as a sort of conservative icon protecting Russia from the bane of wokeism, preserving the Christian values and Christian population makeup, which is as far from truth as it can get. Putin is the opportunist, the embodiment of "Real Politik" with no ideology other than his personal well-being. One moment he is cosying up with Russian nationalists talking about how ethnic Russians are the leading group in the country, the other moment he is coaxing the big business with easy access to foreign labor (most of whom are viewed as "invaders" by aforementioned nationalists). Putin is a post-ideology man who juggles different often contradictory ideas presenting only what he thinks is beneficial to him at the moment.
I guess I'll be sending this to a number of my overseas friends. Thanks for your work.

Fun fact: Due to Russia now allowing dual citizenship, Russia is home to the largest population of Israeli citizens outside Israel with most being dual citizens who spend part of the time in Israel and part of their time in Russia.

For central Asian people, Russia is Like USA. They know the language and have lots of relatives and friends. Which makes finding jobs very easy. Living expanse in Russia is relatively low so they can send a good amount of money back home.

I speak russian and read the russian news and opposition politics, and TDLR said basically the same as the people from russia say. That means TDLR is very well informed about the topic and is highly qualified.
Thank you for your work!

But can you really have 'politically dangerous' policies when disagreeing with Putin equals dying?

1.
Actually Russia likely has a Bigger Migrant Population than Germany.
Because Russia will often consider Immigrants to be Russian if they come from former Soviet Union Countries.
Thus them not being Counted as Immigrants in the Statistics.
For each non Russian Immigrant from these Areas. There is nearly 2 Immigrants which are considered to be Russian and are thus not counted as Immigrants.
2.
This above is also done because it Provides a very Good Justification to Influence and Potentially Annex these former Soviet Republics.
If a Large Percentage of Your Population has Russian Citizenship. It provides one of the most used Russian Justifications for Invasion.
Which is Your Country is Russians and should be Returned Home or that your Country is Suppressing Russian Minorities and thus Russia needs to move in to Protect it etc.
3.
And Finally. Russia is fairly Racist and does Discriminate against "lesser" Russians. Meaning that while these People are considered Russian. They will be considered Second Class Russians.
Which means they get less benefits and will often be Conscripted or be Forced into other Cheap Labor Jobs or the Military.
Even right now. Russian Soldiers Send to Ukraine are to an Disturbing Degree these Lesser Russians.

Putin created a post-modern ruling style. His government has several completely contradictory narratives which get distributed to different political groups.

I'm a moderate nationalist and I've been telling Western Putin fans about this for more than a decade as there are many who believe that Putin is either based or a champion of countries they see as oppressed by the Western world. It is so silly for either patriotic or leftist foreigners to see Putin as a good leader (well, for Russian standards, he was really decent in the 00s but it's a low standard). While I hope Ukraine can keep as much territory as possible, the extremely one sided media reports and demonisation of criticism of the past American/UK treatment of Russia, this very hyper polarisation and downright propaganda has driven many people to be sympathetic to Putin. They correctly identify the propaganda of Western governments as propaganda but then make the mistake to assume that the side that is lied about must be the good side and they fall for another country's propaganda...

The demographic problem of Russia is even worse especially because the 1.5 birth rate is mostly caused by the higher birth rates among the Muslim communities, which push the national birth rate higher. In reality, the Russian population has a much lower birth rate than the national average.

Don't forget that Russia also recruits a lot of immigrants to fight in Ukraine, often with the promise of citizenship
