This has to be one of the best grooming videos for a shih tzu. My pup has a full coat too so I am always looking for extra tips. My only question is regarding the comment that a full coat shih tzu needs a full grooming every five days. I groom my pup for 10-15 minutes every day. I do not think he would last five days without serious knots and tangles.

I have a full coat Shih Tzu too and this is the best video on grooming a full coat I've seen. Love it! I watch it a lot. I wish I could get my Sally Mae's coat to look like Chica's. It's just beautiful. Sally's just never comes out flowy and shiny or straight, it always looks wavy when dry and has yet to grow to the floor. She's 2 1/2 years old. I use IGroom products, brush her every day or two, and bath every 7-10 days. Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you for suggesting a bath/ groom session every five days. I had no idea why after a month and weekly brushing mats were still popping up until we increased shampoos

So nice to see a full coated Shih tzu being groomed to perfection, I breed and show shih tzu and recently got an import female with the biggest coat I’ve ever seen on my breed so I bought a supajet stand dryer but by the time I’ve finished 1 side the other side kind of dries with all the coat stuck and it feels funny, any idea what I could do to prevent this from happening I really don’t want to go back to using my hug velocity dryer? Fantastic job I wish I could trust a groomer in the UK with my show dogs 😬

I thinned the hair on my Shihtzus legs . The idea worked. I got her dryed faster and she looks great! How often should I do that?

If you have any show shih tzu clients PLEASE PLEASE can you do a video on how you would typically groom their coat? I struggle with the legs because you have to layer it 🙄

Very cool! This is basically what I plan to do with my shih tzus. At least for awhile. Did i miss a part of the video though? I thought I heard you say she gets shaved under the nose but I didn't see you do that?

Chica looks absolutely gorgeous. I use a rectangle pin brush, do you think the oval one is better and can you say which shampoo and conditioner you used for her and is she spayed, as I think this has changed my girls' coat?
