Last year I put the Ultralight Regulator Down Jacket from Outdoor Vitals to use in the latter part of the season and it worked great! I had it in everything from rain and wind to freezing temps with snow on the ground.

As a backcountry skier and a year round cyclist here in Upstate NY, the pit zips are the number one reason that I bought this as well as the little brother adventure loft tec jacket. To be able to dump the heat and with a hard shell with zips too is such a logical system I’m really surprised that the big names don’t do pit zips……oh well good for outdoor vitals.

Emory, great review. At 13oz / 368g with pit zips this is a good looking jacket at a very cost effective price. My current ploy puff runs at 500g NO pit zips !! or thumb holes (yes they are essential when layering). Also I recommend your backpacking course (having reviewed it after paying full price for it) for those that are looking to get into the outdoors and understand what to do, how to do and bypass the early mistakes.

Have you had a chance to try out their New line NovaPro and NovaUL?

How do you think those would compare as they have a small amount of Lofttek and no stitches.

I’m trying to figure out if I should get one of the Novas or the Ultralight Lofttek.

Good vid. So being new and looking at the Loftech or Regulator. What's the difference? My parameters; warm, water resistant, good anti snag zippers (YKK), abrasive resistance, weight is no problem. I need something that will last with care. Also any products to be applied to the appeal for water proofing and/or care of fabric?

How the Regulator jacket compares to Kuiu ultra down?. There is a big price difference between them. Main use would be glassing, tree stand, etc..
