✦ GEAR I USE ✦

📸 Cameras:
---------------------------------------------------
I get a lot of questions about the cameras I use. Here are my main cameras:
This is a very durable camera. It withstands the elements and can go places other cameras can’t. There are many accessories available for GoPro cameras which makes the camera endlessly customizable and versatile. If you are intending to make vlogs or travel videos where you speak, you might prefer the creator edition which comes with more accessories.

This little handheld camera is very easy to pack because of its small size. It is not as rugged as the GoPro, but is easy to carry and make stable video. I use the creator combo version which includes an additional battery and a microphone that can be clipped to your shirt for improved audio which I like for filming walking tours.

🔋 Other useful tech:
---------------------------------------------------
This device attaches to a smartphone to help record more stable video.
An extra battery for the GoPro.
A flexible and durable charging cable that charges quickly.
These are great for recharging my phone or cameras while traveling, and are also useful for power outages.
This battery connects directly to the back of iPhones that have MagSafe and can charge the phone without the use of a cable.
This memory card works on most small cameras, and can record for a long time.
I take this hard drive with me when I travel so that I can back up the footage that I record on my trip. It fits in one of the pockets inside my tech case, and holds a lot of footage.

✈️ Travel gear I like:
---------------------------------------------------
This durable bag fits easily into the overhead compartments on airplanes and the straps can be configured to be comfortably worn as a backpack, which is nice for long walks through an airport.
I have both sizes, and have used the larger one consistently for many years. They are incredibly durable, and nicely fit all of my camera gear. I like that I can fit a GoPro inside of the larger one, along with cables, SD Cards, a battery and a small hard drive. People traveling with less gear or less space in their bags might prefer just the smaller pouch.
This towel spreads out large, but packs up tiny and dries quickly. I have disliked every other pack towel I have ever used, but this one is made of cotton and feels soft and does not have a funny smell.
Buying food when traveling gets expensive, so I try to pack as much food as I can. This cooler keeps things fresh for a long time. It also means that I can pick up local foods when I go places and bring them home with me.

🎧 Audiobooks:

I listen to lots of audiobooks while on the road. Get started with a free audiobook here:

Awesome! I was born in Clovis and grew up in Muleshoe. My grandmother was from Farwell. Had some friends who were killed in a car wreck, returning home from a ski trip, right there in front of the GMC dealership in Clovis. The farm house on the right at 32:37 is where I grew up.

Clovis to Jennyslipper Town. I've worn out a lot of tires and a couple of vehicles driving between these two towns. Another good video. Thanks.

I lived on Cannon AFB from 1971 to 1973 and then in Clovis until 1974. A lot of my coworkers didn't like the area, but I thought it was a good place. My favorite thing about the area was the friendly, helpful, honest people. I you broke down or ran out of gas, someone would stop to help. If you fucked with them they would probably shoot you. Maybe that's why everyone was friendly. I was told the area would run out of water in twenty years. Looks like you still have water. I'm beginning to think a lot of other predictions are bs too.

Interesting. I just got back from a long 3K mile drive. I travel between TN and NM periodically and always drive back on I-40 which I'm kind of tired of.

US-60 goes about a block from my house in NM and I noticed that it also goes through Paducah KY so we picked it up there and drove the whole way, except for a stretch between OKC and Amarillo. We passed through and stopped in a lot of small towns through KY, MO, OK, TX to NM. Sad to see how many are bleeding dry.
