There is no official record of a woman who survived both atomic bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, being close to the areas affected by the explosions, but there is a well-known story about a man who went through this experience. Tsutomu Yamaguchi is recognized as the only person officially acknowledged by the Japanese government to have survived both atomic bombings. Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima on a business trip when the first bomb was detonated on August 6, 1945. He survived the explosion and returned to Nagasaki, where, incredibly, he witnessed the second explosion on August 9, 1945.

Although individual stories of survivors exist, which could include women who were exposed to both attacks, Tsutomu Yamaguchi is the most well-known person who experienced both tragedies and was officially recognized.
