Solitude in Public
I was really just trying to find a quiet place to work. Interruptions could be minimized with discipline.. or obsession, but it had to be about shutting people out. It was a time almost before the internets. I wanted a virtual place to get away to.
Flashback:
Airbrush artist in the malls.. After the high school years I got used to being in the public eye behind glass windows.
Along came a new fish In 2007. That was me and ever since, I’ve been living
in display windows, for a week long stint sometimes.
Fishbowler became the adventure of art making in public. It was an odyssey of art making. It crossed a strange limbo. The odyssey to be seen comes with mental baggage or maybe it comes FROM the mental baggage. These personality issues we all have paints our every outcome. I need to be seen. I don’t know why. I hate being looked at sometimes. I am selling paintings. Mystery solved. Can’t sell paintings from a dark locked closet.
From “Bus on Fire” my forthcoming book:
Starting your art journey with a closed mind is a common occurrence, but what you need is a close encounter to open yourself up to new possibilities. My own close encounter fueled me, but I wonder if it was useful in pushing me towards my Rocky moment. It's as if we are chosen by a bright light from the sky, and in my case, the adventure that ensued felt like a result of being chosen. However, the danger of hindsight is that we often cannot see this choosing, and it may seem like we weren't chosen at all. But a new paradigm arises from every experience, even a seemingly insignificant night stroll that leads us in a certain mental direction.
Creating your own fate is essential, so bring a black light in your pocket to avoid scorpions that could alter your future in a negative direction. Inspiration should always come from within, from the burning heart inside you that will direct you towards greatness. Energy is what drives us forward, and the flow of life at work is energy that feels mysterious until we taste success. The taste stays with us, molding and motivating us to create and consume more. Not every activity will lead us in the right direction, but faith and hope are the materials consumed by creation. We can understand this process as if it were religion, and the onward march leads us somewhere, faithfully.
Imposter syndrome needn't stop anyone, as general paranoia is common. The key is not to be an imposter, but rather to make a conscious choice to be the artist you were meant to be. The Midwest may offer a life that seems boring, but it's a great place to start and to spring from. Genius doesn't necessarily reside in particular people or places; it's like a cloud that can't be grasped or understood. Maybe genius isn't a person, but a persona that leads us from behind the scenes. Just give in and let your life flow, because we don't know what we are. The material world is an illusion, and the reality of what we experience is something we can't fully comprehend. IF we knew what was real, it just might take the fun out of it. Reality has imposter syndrome.
Standing out is a natural desire that makes sense for anyone tired of experiencing mediocrity. To inspire is to grab motivation and own it, to wield it like a powerful tool. Self-motivation is of high value, and inspiring others can move mountains. There will always be competition and envy, but single-mindedness is key to driving towards your dream. Distractions keep you from your dream motivation. The more facets you uncover, the more you understand to think less rather than more. Think less, intuit more. Intuition's strength in ignorance can be a powerful tool that's not held back by experience. Again, I’m saying that intuition has a strength in ignorance. It doesn’t need to know, intuition hasn’t experienced, but it can tell you how it will be. Somehow intuition has experienced, I correct myself. It knows, that’s how it knows.
Standing Out
Standing out seems a natural desire that makes a lot of sense for a being tired of experiencing nothing but mediocre. He wants more. Is there more?
Mediocre is only when my rocket fuel isn’t being used. Kick it into gear here pops! This life is mine! Fate is mine! In a power moment like this I work to forget failure!
To inspire is to grab motivation and own it. To wield motivation like a tool is a strong move. Inspiring motivation is a joining effort. To inspire self motivation is of highest value. Motivate the world. Inspire the elk. Move the edge.
there will be songs in the minor key: you’ll have competition and the envious always reign, but stay sharp. Single mindedness is the key position. You’ve got to drive after your dream and the easiest thing is to quit. Keep to the self motivation
