Still on my first full time, mint. As for Adobe, running Windows 10 in a virtual machine sorts that.

Thanks for this video! I jumped right in, but I didn't have anything going at the time. I love it and will never go back.

Been running Linux for almost 2 years now, best decision I've made in my life

my first distro was Linux Mint MATE, then Manjaro, and I am now using Arch (btw)

Good video! I'm sure there will be additional steps as one becomes more advanced. I personally have always loved Mint because of the simplicity and it tends to work - period!

For snapshots and backups I would suggest using Timeshift if your distribution doesn't have one installed. Yes it's good to debug the issue yourself but if you're using your workstation for work you may not have time to debug the issue, better to have the choice to either fix it yourself or use a backup to restore to a previous state. It will also come in handy if you accidentally delete important files not related to the core os. It's also nice to also have a backup of your OS if you suffer from drive failure, just make sure you save snapshots to separate drive.

I started with Linux Mint in 2010, I just moved to Garuda Linux Dr460nized edition, an Arch-based distro two weeks ago. This is my natural progression from an easy distro to an Arch-based distro without the DIY approach of a pure Arch install. I last personally used Windows during the Windows 2000 era until Microsoft decommissioned it in 2010.

I went cold turkey from Win XP Home to Fedora 9. It was hell at first, but I have no regrets and have never looked back : )

I've had way too many problems dual booting- usually a Windows update wrecks the Linux boot. I got one of those front panel (replaces cd drive) SATA power selector switches so I can select which drives are powered up. One OS can't wreck the other one if it doesn't have ANY access to the other drive.

Started using Mint in 2011. The Broadcom drivers just worked on the Live CD on the laptop I had which was troublesome. Tried a bunch of distros since but nothing has gotten me to dump Mint. This machine I have now is a few years old and though Nvidia is getting better it was one of those things where Nvidia just worked. They do a great job.

my distro is ubuntu, but didnt really settle. Did some distro hoping and found mint. I stay with mint for years until recently that I upgraded my laptop. For some reason, after full upgrade, it got black screen. Tested with alot of distro and only works was with kernel 5.10 and above in which mx linux, fedora, pop os and manjaro worked. settle for weeks on Manjaro but eventually, change to arch.

Before 2years i have been changing phone software with odin in Windows, switched to linux and used heimdal as an alternative software in linux and bricked my phone completely, at that time I realised that I need windows as a backup. The updates automatically brick the system in linux so timeshift such softwares are a must, but still I doubt thr stability better not to update. I don't update my Linux system now I have been using ubuntu, mint, debian stable, arch, manjaro etc in past. But I never faced any malware issue in Linux in Windows its an headache buying antivirus and before the antivirus expiring period their will be a virus attack.

My very first step : find the right settings for the screen size, app size, fonts size !! Everything is so small when we install a distro, why ?? And its not easy to know where to go to change all these things, it's not at the same place depending on the desktop environment. I tried Kubuntu and Mint Cinamon on live; KDE needed to be restart and I don't remember what went wrong with cinamon but again not easy !
Now I've install Q4OS with the Windows 10 install with KDE and Cinamon that I actually like. But the both DE are not exactly configured the same way as in the other distros, arghh !!
Like people say it's a learning curve; I find the right settings for me step by step but it could be easier. I don't like having headaches because I want to try a new distro and I need to squint my eyes on the screen.

What I don't understand is HOW TO INSTALL Linux - over Windows? Reformat the HD? Run from a USB? How do I boot a Windows PC from a USB?
If I install Linux by reformatting etc etc then is Windows gone? Do I need a "which to boot from" loading screen?
Linux once its going is easy IMO. Its the EXACTLY how to get it going that's the problem.
I would also put it on a VIRTUAL part of a HD - is that an image? Which program runs it? Is it safe? Does it update itself without asking?
Can I then boot into Windows as usual then switch effortlessly to LInux.
All these problems are the hard part (to remember and initially start).
I would run Linux NOW if I could do it without destroying everything on Windows I've got - gmail, twitch etc etc.)
Then when all goes well I wouldn't go back to Windows much except for my Camtasia that wouldn't run on Linux.

The best Distro for newbies imo is Manjaro or Garuda KDE.
User friendly Arch based distros with the AUR, the most versatile and efficient way to install packages.

I'm OK with tech news here but not normal news rehashes.

Crucial Steps:
1. Use Kubuntu rather than Linux Mint.
2.Try Using Manjaro KDE.
3. Move on to Arch BTW.
