What a phenomenal voice. Rainy Days and Mondays and Goodbye to Love are songs that show a greater range of her voice. When the Carpenters came out in the early 70s, they were considered to clean cut and pop. They held their own in the decade with lots of hits. Since her death many have become much more appreciative of her vocal skills. She's considered one of the greatest female singers. She was great on the drums too😊

Burt Bacharach said she was the most natural singer he had worked with, and he worked with many great singers.

The smoothest, richest, clearest, warmest most angelic voice of all time and she was a fabulous drummer too.

The voice of an angel. Such a tragedy that she died so young

Watching in 2025, people forget that it was rare to see a female drummer in the early 1970s, especially one who plays and sings at the same time.

She was pitch perfect. She never had to do multiple takes. She thought she was a drummer who could sing, and turns out her vocals were magical. She is without a doubt arguably the most talented female vocals of all time.

I feel sorry for the new generation that missed all the great artists of the 60s and 70s

When I was a kid in the 70’s I grew up in North Hollywood and Sun Valley. The Carpenters used to rehearse in an empty warehouse near our home, close to the Burbank airport. She was so nice. They let us come in and watch them. I was about 9 or 10. It was so cool and I still remember how special she made us feel. Class act!

Karen, the best ever. Her lower register is pure magic. Nothing flashy, no showing off, no running up and down and all over the place to try to impress, just pure singing.

Over 50 years and we are still amazed. A short time on this earth and millions of hearts touched. Welcome new generation, a special gift from the past.

Thank you for doing this. I was married in 1970 (the year the song was produced )and I had my brother-in-law perform this song with his band at our wedding. The song was so new there was no sheet music but he was able to put it together without the sheet music. My wife and I were married 51 and each year on our anniversary we would dance to this song.
She died three years ago. I’m 78 years old and every anniversary I play the video of the song on my TV and dance by myself dreaming of holding my dear wife and of the wonderful life we had together. Sincerely, John, Toronto, Canada

Karen Carpenter's voice is truly timeless. Velvety chocolate. So many hits in a life cut way too short. You won't regret going down this rabbit hole!

She was an award winning jazz drummer before she started singing. She was also called one take Karen and had the most beautiful female voice of the era.
