After winning the money in the bank ladder match, Rob Van Dam cashed in his WWE Championship contract against John Cena at ECW One Night Stand. With the help of Edge's interference, RVD emerged victorious to become WWE Champion, but his reign was short-lived as he lost the title to Edge a month later, leading to a feud between Edge and Cena.
