Personally I also found my partner online, maintening a long distance relationship for a while then actually met him in person some years later.
Funny thing is, I didn't use any online dating app nor was looking for an online date, I found him on a MMORPG game 😅 at first we were just game buddies, but later we decided to have the long distance relationship. I never expected my love life going this way, but I'm glad it did.
If that didn't happen, I would also be in team no-online-dating, as I don't like dating apps all that much, but we all have to respect others preferences.

If someone sent me a dm, sure, but I don't want to actively try to date by downloading an app (and judging someone solely on appearance). I met my boyfriend when I was casually on a dating app, not expecting to find anyone worthwhile. Turns out we were very very compatible, we grew up in the same area, had many many mutual friends and were both studying the same course in uni. You just never know when and where you’ll meet someone if you don’t put yourself out there, be it in real life or online.

You have to be very careful with on line dating. People tend to be what they are not. It is only a way to be deceitful. It's better to meet people face to face and even then you have to be careful.

I’m still old fashioned and it’s hard not to give in to the online dating scheme because it just seems like everyone is meeting people online and that’s just how it is. I don’t find online dating is safe mainly because I wouldn’t know if this person profile is real or probably sketchy . Honestly it’s best to meet in person and see who they are personally and spiritually. I’m still waiting on god when I’m going to meet my potential spouse . It’s best to wait and not let my emotions get way to close to someone you only met once right ? Mission over emotion which mean you can’t place your emotions over someone you just met online or maybe by things you’re interested into . It’s best to wait for the right moment not just pack your things to chase after her ( it sounds desperate 😅 )

I think the msg is just to get to know someone before meeting them…ppl are scared to ask the questions that matter and usually find out too late…dating apps is like trolls on yt it gives you a sense of anonymity so ask away but instead be kind….saves you the time and you should be able to find someone you genuinely click with.

I think it's okay to meet online first or be "old fashioned" or catch feelings fast. It's so easy to get hurt and find it easier to shut yourself off from those feelings altogether rather than risk getting hurt again, I have been there myself, feeling unworthy or afraid to open up incase we get along but meeting in person they feel I don't live up to their visual expectations. That hurts and can be hard to recover from, I want everyone to feel accepted and loved and valued no matter if that comes in the form of friendship or more than friendship. I'm from the UK but I have met so many amazing people from all over the world through places like YouTube and I will always try my hardest to help people feel less alone and isolated, even if that means just being someone for them to talk to on rough days, we can all make a difference if we just close our eyes and listen with our hearts

This can happen to you offline too. People misrepresent themselves all the time. Don't limit yourself--feel free to look online, but ask questions critically about the things that matter to you to assess compatibility and try to meet up with the person ASAP before even starting to get attached. You might also want to look into your attachment style--sounds like you're leaning toward an anxious-preoccupied style. 😊 I used to have that one and I'd get sucked into fantasizing pretty easily. Luckily, I have healed past that now. 😁 Don't give up!
