David talks about iOS 17 battery saving tips that actually work on iPhone! Some of the settings we'll discuss are brand new in iOS 17. Others we've talked about, but they're too important to ignore -- and some of them have a way of getting turned back on after an iOS update. We'll also discuss the #1 and #2 things Apple says will drain your iPhone battery and, perhaps more importantly, what they won't say about battery health -- at least publicly.

I like the way you explain your reasoning for all of these optimization tweaks. You’re a fantastic teacher and that really helps your listeners to make the best devisions. Thanks again.

3:34 I totally agree with you, it’s fricking annoying when someone is nearby and you hear the constant click click click. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤬

Wow, just arrived home from work with half of battery and before watching and doing your optimisations was 23%, thank you very much, it works!!!

I wanted to prove something to myself, so I once ran a relatively unscientific test to measure the power difference when 'closing' applications. I used my iPhone 13 mini as I normally would for 6 months (my life and therefore usage are both pretty consistent) and never 'closed' anything to establish a general baseline (which was also quite consistent). I then tried another 6 months 'closing' everything the second I was finished with it every single time. I consistently ended the day with roughly 5-8% more charge, which while not a lot, was both very reliable and obvious; something I found rather interesting. Also, this spanned iOS 15.4-15.7, so there were no major software changes to affect anything.

Excellent video Dave! Loved the new “Scheduled Summary” tip! Thank you for getting me all up to speed with the latest power settings! My iPhone is older and has seen better days for sure. This will help me eke more life out of it hopefully 🤞🏻 😊🙌🏻

Bonus tip: that I actually learned so recently, Apple True Tone technology, turning this off can (minimally) increase your battery. Because True Tone is using the front and rear camera and other sensors constantly.

These are actually practical tips without sacrifing functionality like others. But I have to disagree for haptics, especially on silent. When my phone on silent, I rely on haptics.

Fantastic format on your delivery; showing where you are clicking, swiping, and scrolling instead just "go here and go there" without showing where. And the clarity of your voice . . . . not too fast, not too slow, but just right. I don't suppose you're related to Goldilocks ;-)
The other comment: I don't suppose you have a video on how to use Safari on iPhone 15. I expect that there is a number of viewers who would appreciate seeing your presentation on that; especially if you used the same format as you used in this video.
I'm off to subscribe and have a look at your other videos.
Many thanks.

Reduce transperency and display zoom also can help the battery.

I would like to point out that turning off location service for “compass calibration “ will not affect maps, as mentioned in the video.

Which charger I should use for my Iphone 15? Can I use my daughter MacBook charger?

1. I have really nice 5G in my area (500k city) so for now I am using it now.
2. I use dark mode except one app which I hate using in dark mode so I have automation for switching it. It works really nice.
3. For most of apps I disabled notifications.
4. I use low power mode when my baterry is below 40%. My choice :)
5. Every time I watch video about battery tips then I review all my apps (notifications, location, background)

I really liked the video, did not know the channel and golly!! there are a lot of channels out there with this type of content. Could not find my old reliable ones, so I dug I little bit and got to this one.
The fact you put a timer on the features got me hooked, this way I knew how long you were going to discuss about each topic, I could keep up with it, pause and so on.
I got my phone on Sunday and noticed when they transferred the data on the store, it didn't keep all the settings I had, thought I'd done this before on the 13, email refresh was now on and other things "that magically got turned back on for some reason", but I had no idea about all these new features the 15 had, plus all the stuff you forget (there's so much to adjust in IOS world to save battery life). Anyway, I am testing this out and let's see how it works, thanks so much!

If I live in a city with a robust 5g network, does using 5g auto still drain my battery? Am I better off to just use LTE for now?
