“What's taking my mom so long?”

March 7th 2014, the bodies of a young couple Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson are discovered behind a convenient store dumpster, and with very little clue of what happened, the police visit their fathers, who have been both furiously against their relationship. What the detectives don’t know is that Crystal's 5 year old daughter Zaniah, who was hiding in the car at the time of the murder, might have seen it all.

This is my first time seeing a detective emotional rather than controlling what they actually feel in an interview,

The fact that Detective Kitchens became Zaniah's Godfather is so touching <3. And that little girl is so smart and strong, I can see why she is so loved by her family.

Her analogy of the tree and the seed truly was beautiful and such a mature way to think. Made me feel much more at peace with the loss of my own mother seeing it that way 🧡

Zaniah’s tree metaphor broke me down. I couldn’t imagine my life without my parents. My mom lost her mother when she was young and till this day I can feel her pain of not getting to share the fruits of her labor. I’m so sorry to everyone that has had parents that have passed. I wish you peace, assurance, and a forever strong mind filled with happy memories 💗

"It's okay. Think about the bright side of it, you know? If your parent was killed, you are the reason everybody can be happy, 'cause they had you. You are the seed. If you cut down a tree, you're the seed that fell on the ground. So it just sprouts up."
Goddammit, what a wise young soul!
Hoping the best for Zaniah! ❤

wow when he said that when he visits crystal’s grave he not only puts flowers on his daughters grave but also Brittany’s. When he didn’t even want to sit next to her when she was alive to now putting flowers on her grave really made me cry

3:43 Grandma knew exactly what had happened before anyone else. She didn't believe those crocodile tears for a second.

Zaniah's analogy at the end gave me chills. she's a smart girl, and her mother would be so proud of her. i pray for her success as a future lawyer!

The fact Ivan also puts flowers on Britney’s grave really moved me. He went from being angry and resentful because of his religion to being able to recognize that he made a mistake in how he treated his daughter and her partner. It’s horrible his last moments with her were an argument because he couldn’t move past his own biases but it seems that he’s changed for the better and regrets it.

Zaniah did such an amazing job. I don't know how she did it, having been through something so bad. She kept her composure and related the details clearly. She's going to be an amazing lawyer and victim advocate.

I love how this channel gives a voice to the victims and their families and isn't just romanticizing the horrific. It doesn't praise the tragedy, but uplifts the people who went through it.

It broke my heart to hear Zaniah say she saw blood splatter and heard the gunshot. I hope that baby finds peace.❤

When I heard the 5 year old speak about what she saw and heard, I knew she was a very intelligent and wise young girl. Today, she is a very intelligent and wise young lady! She'll be an excellent attorney!!!

Its so selfish and disrespectful to not fully honor these murdered women by recognizing them as partners at their funerals.

Wow the 5 year-old daughter was so articulate!

Edit: And still very much is! Very bright.

This is so chilling with how calm this 5 yr old girl explains the things she seen and heard as a child I lost my father to unsafe workplace accident so I've struggled for 16 yes now and the last thing Zendaya said in this video really touched me. She made me think that maybe there really are ppl who still need me.
