As a non welder with zero knowledge, after reading these comments from know it alls, I feel emboldened to say that this is not done properly.

Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objective, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

6013 is light duty electrode thats super easy to lay a bead with. For better penetrarion into the base metal, use 6010. Use 7018 for a stronger weld. Both 6010 and 7018 take a touch more experience to lay a good beadb

Switch to 7018 rod. All your passes should be stringers just like your root. After the root, run your next 2 passes directly on top of the toes (edge) of the root on both sides when laying in your stringers. If you continue on this way, you'll have one stringer for a root, the second layer will have two stringers, the third layer will have 3, etc etc. Just depends on how deep the groove you're filling is.
The weave passes you put in after the root are weaker than multiple stringers due to the amount of heat they create for such a shallow weld deposition.

Apparently not a single soul on the planet knows how to weld properly.

In the future I plan on making welding my career. My freshman year I was in intro to Agriculture. The teacher had taught me the basics of welding. That's when I decided I wanted to learn more about welding and make it my career. The first thing the teacher made me do is basic welds such as T-plate, overlap and other beginning weld positions. When I finally got the hang of it he let me start building different projects. The first project I did is welding a ramp onto a trailer. A little bit harder project I did is building a grill on a different trailer. They were really enjoyable projects and made me like welding even more. After my Freshman year in Ag class, I realized I enjoyed welding, and I wanted to make welding my career.

Eh, this is arrite welding, for hobby work I would say.
Kinda depends on if the steel is supposed to hold something heavy or not. Been working in the shipyard business for 27 years, so I have done and seen a lot of various welding. More and more strict these days though, but this for welding at home... is arrite.

One tip though... this will be much stronger and better looking with several strings, instead of one that you swing to the sides. We try to discourage welders from doing that zic zac pattern.

I've seen a lot of welding videos and apparently not a single one of them is done well.

It's not just one weld, it's supposed to be 1, 2, 3, and maybe 4 on top depending how wide the gap is

6013 is a sheet metal Rod, should have used 7018 Rod to weld this!

This video is another reason why welding is an apprenticeship.

Пробовал не варить в отрыв? Ходят слухи, так прочность шва выше

При такой толщине шва в жизни не поверю, что у него получился угол 90 градусов
