Skeleton Crew is a fun space operate adventure with one lingering mystery: why is At-Attin hidden? Why do they still operate like a pre-Clone Wars planet? And could they be connected to Palaptine's secret outer rim Sith Cults?

I really hope this doesn't have anything to do with Palpatine

At Attin is absolutely not exogal. In order to get to exigol you got to fly through some crazy storm in space, which is completely different from the barrier.

My guess is At Attin was a treasury or a mint for one of the iterations of the Republic. That made it a target for pirates. After at least one pirate attack, they developed a barrier to keep the planet protected. The barrier keeps all ships from entering and may make the world look uninhabitable. Think of it like a high security entry/exit protocol, but for a whole planet. After numerous attempts to breach the barrier, the pirates gave up, but the legend of the score of At Attin remained, eventually becoming a fantasy legend. Simultaneously, the Republic made all records of At Attin secret, to protect their money, but after a major crisis (which each iteration of the Republic faced) the data was lost or destroyed, the knowers were purged, or something similar. At Attin, meanwhile, still has an active comms listening capability, so they know what a mess the galaxy has become. Note that the lecture droid at the beginning seems to be describing advanced accounting systems and comparing the two systems in use - one inside the barrier and one outside the barrier. They talk about comparing multiple currencies and Roona wants to be a statistical accountant - in middle school. So they have a high level of awareness, and they want to teach their kids about certain (mathematical and financial) elements of the outside galaxy, but they don’t actually get involved. Rather than help and become target number one, they hide, and invent a new way of life, clinging to their old way of life to prevent disorder among the population.

It’s also possible that the droids are actually in full control of security, entry, and exit. They are unable to assimilate the information that they are in service to a government that no longer exists, and therefore will not let anyone leave. The people in charge then put on a brave face and live out what is essentially their droids fantasy, because they see no other option.

Honestly, I rather not think of the Palpatine clone nonsense and think of Skeleton Crew as a fun standalone Amblin-inspired family show for now. The surprises and twists can come later.

A long time ago a pirate ship with treasure crashed. That’s the buried starship. The pirates decided, this planet is great and we have all the wealth we need. Let’s stay here and create a paradise. But no one can come or go, because then all the other pirates will come for the treasure. So the legend of a great lost treasure on an unknown planet called At Attin started. Fits perfectly into the lost pirate treasure adventure which this show clearly is.

I don’t think folks are paying enough attention to what the teacher droid is saying to the kids at the start of the Undersecretary Umbridge scene. The market manipulation of different currencies is what any government needs. The scale economy of both Republics or Empires depend on an organization no Star Wars show has explored— until now

My theory is that their planet At-Atan is thought of as a myth with lots of treasure because they are still stuck in the High Republic or they never knew about the empire and all of that so they still think its the High Republic. This leads to their credits being worth very much as they are from the High Republic. So people think its a myth because with all of these Credits and it doesn't seem possible to have so much riches in one spot. Does that make sense?

"Great Works" was a galactic undertaking by Lina Soh during The High Republic to help the outer rim planets and other things. This is probably a remnant of that

According to the RoS novelization, Clone Sidious is already on Exegol by this time.

They refer to the republic not the empire. If it was Palpatine related they would be working for the empire. And Wims seeming idolizing the Jedi also doesn’t make sense if it was a Sith planet.

Another hidden planet you missed was Lira San. This was hidden behind a nebula formed from an imploded star cluster in wild space and was the original home world of the Lasat - shout out to Zeb!

The part about the Sith-triangle connection blew my mind. I'm agreeing with you that the citizens of At-Attin totally unknowingly cloning Palpatine.

If it is sith why would there be jedi children's stories freely available. I think it's isolated since the HiGh republic

Atattin is an old republic planet that shielded itself at the start of the Clone Wars and cut off all communication with the rest of the galaxy when the Empire took control.

One thing that speaks against the Exegol theory is that the starship only travelled in hyperspace for a few minutes before they threw themself out of it, ending up in the Outer Rim. Totally different than travelling to Exegol or other unknown territories. So probably this planet is in the Outer Rim.

Considering how long the ship they found must have been buried before they found it, I would think it should have been buried perhaps even before the happenings of episode one. The main reason is someone should remember seeing a ship crash in the area and remember it, so it must before anyone who might have memory of it. I do believe whoever is in charge has access to information of what is going on outside their planet, I hope it has nothing to do with the Skywalker saga at all including the cloning of the emperor. It would be nice if whatever is going on has to do with something totally new and could lead to something prior to the events of episode one, in fact at least 100 years before.

0:42 I sort of hate that basically everything that Disney has made since The Rise of Skywalker is retroactively trying to make sense of their canon-busting move in resurrecting Palpatine.

I think the only thing that puts a giant hole in this is Palpatine and the empire notoriously value humans over other species. The new planet seems a little diverse for Palpatine.
