I once spoke to an East German who desperately wanted to go back to the 'old' system. It's awesome having endless varieties of dog food but what happens if all of them are equally toxic to pets (as manufacturers race to the bottom)? Whatever 'ism' you label it, it is undeniable that finance capitalism has ushered in all the freedom destroying instruments we are experiencing today. Surveillance is just one part of it. Someone once said that all systems fail because all human knowledge is limited. The 'smart people' did this with their just-in-time inventory systems and buy-now-pay-later mentality which is proving to be spectacularly stupid.

Central planning doesn’t work, that’s why the federal reserve and fiat monetary systems are collapsing around us. There’s nothing more centrally planned than policies like stimulus checks and bank bail outs.

However, to be fair, an operational system that is centrally planned is likely possible with technological advancement. The problem historically is that we don’t have enough information to make informed plans. But with advancements such as the internet of things and machine learning, central planning might actually be better than the blind ‘invisible hand’ market chaos we’ve seen in the past.

As someone who was brought up behind the Iron Curtain. Despite the name, not exactly in communism but in the socialism, could not agree more with your findings. And even more so, I find it absolutely preposterous that people in the West are not getting and idea that socialism only works as long wealth created in free trade times suffices for.

Matt, as usual, very good content! I know you disagree, but unfortunately one of the biggest enemies of humanity and a great oppressor of free speech is a Bitcoiner (i.e. Jack Dorsey). He is to be called out regardless of his support for Bitcoin.

I guess I lived a charmed life...it started with an interest in garden as a kid, then homesteading. Then the Green Festival came along and then an Urban Homesteading school and wilderness skills...ladies and gentlemen EVERYTHING you need to know to not fear the rubble of dystopia. If the days get here no McDonalds, no cellphones, no pills...don't go screaming and running into walls and breaking your necks...LEARN skills. I know people that make fab feta, crackers and homemade wine. Goes well with clay hot tub, candles from the honey bees, home grown flowers. If things go to crumbs, you are good to go. You can slam the door on the psychos and tell them to sit and take a load off their minds; we are not in need of their services. If you all only knew what my eyes have seen...you would tell them to take a flying and not even think twice...the possibilities are endless. Organize in your neighborhoods.

People have a natural tendency to want to be popular and belong to a group. Making a career out of ideology was heavily practiced in the Soviet Union and is heavily practiced in the US today.

You say Government when you mean “public.” When a revolution occurs in a nation state, the “government” usually has not been entirely solidified. It’s more accurate to use the real word for conscripting industry for the public of a nation, which is “nationalized.”

Communist nations did mess up, but it is undeniable that the communist revolution in Russia took the nation from being a weak, Tsarist feudal state to going toe-to-toe with a world superpower. While it took the United States a century to reach their superpower status in the 50s, Russia did in decades. Meanwhile China did the exact same thing in two decades.

In China, totalitarianism is not hidden. In the US, totalitarianism is hidden behind veils of inefficiency and plausible deniability.

Also it’s not accurate to say China doesn’t hold intellectuals in their government. They have a very streamlined system to test students at a young age to be trained to monitor certain industries. China choose certain key industries to have completely under their control, usually the most vital.

Meanwhile the US privatizes healthcare, and it’s military.

Also, Credit Scores are not better than Social Credit Scores. Credit Scores in the US are run by companies that have little oversight, no accountability to the public, and we know they make mistakes all of the time.

As we’ve seen, the more we give away power to the free market, the more corporations replace governments, and they end up being far more brutal than public governments, as they have 0 constituency in the public.
