Hello friends! Happy holidays! Here's another update of one I covered years ago (one of the first covers I did on my channel, I think!). It's snowed here in Ireland for the first time in a while, so though this may not be a festive song it's been on my mind anyhow. Stay safe and warm out there!

I'm 61 year old guitar hack who has played guitar for 45+ years. I have always wanted to attempt this song. You did a mighty fine job Sammy. Very well played. Signed, the old guy.

Oh man.. I did not expect to be in tears, audibly sobbing, listening to you play a song i have heard a hundred times before by a countless number of singers both famous and obscure, novice and expert alike. Thank you for this. If you can bring someone who is running around extremely busy caught in the last minute rush of this holiday season to stop and listen to with nothing more than an acoustic guiitar and a voice to a song about a tortured and inspired genius that was Van Gogh and writen so eloquently by Don Mclean, then that's a rare gift you possess. That's a super power. Merry Christmas .

Don McLean would be so proud. Well delivered. You did justice to the feeling the song should be sung with.

What a beautiful performance of a beautiful song.
I visited the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam about 8 years ago when I retired.
I stood in front of a self portrait of Vincent and could not get this song out of my head. This young woman sings it with such sensitivity.
Well done- Bravo.

I spend a lot of time just surfin' the 'tube, probably way more than I should. And every once in a while, you stumble upon something here that is absolutely stunning. I've loved that tune since McLean wrote it. I've listened to what, maybe 15 or 20 covers. I have never seen anyone else perform it in such a wonderfully evocative way. The playing, the facial expressions, the little improvs, all add to the beauty of it. Words fail me. I will admit I think I got something in my eye about halfway thru. Thanks for this superb interpretation, Sammy. Bravo!

I discovered that song 25 years ago when that song was already 25 years old. Glad to see the music hasn't died, as Don McLean so adamantly protested in American Pie the same year. I love the feeling you give this song. Makes me wonder if you are thinking of someone more personal to you than Vincent van Gogh when you spill your heart to us with his lyrics. Thanks Sammy!

So much emotion invoked. your ability to convey so much pain in your singing, also while keeping your voice hardly above a whisper is just phenomenal. Thanks Sammy for this beautiful cover and making a sad night meaningful..
