The reason that the Gen 5 is quieter than the 4 is because they've replaced a metal cog with a plastic one in the 5.
I wonder how long this plastic cog will last and if spares are readily available when the motor is out of warranty?

The gen4 motor has considerable 'drag' after the assistance turns off at 25km/h, that is not present on other motors like Siemens. It makes pedaling so much more cumbersome. Unless Bosch is getting rid of that drag, the motor of my next bike will be from some other manufacturer...
