The guy who shouted: We love you Jon!
That was very cool, because he was getting very emotional, and people got to show their love and support with the ovation.

And then he moved under Stephen's desk where he occasionally pops up to remind us that he is still with us.

This is a huge loss. For millions of people, Jon Stewart has given a political and social voice in the unlikeliest manner, a satirical news show with a degree of insight and honesty that is completely absent our institutionally corrupt political establishment and an abysmal and complicit corporate mainstream media. The Daily Show's enormous success is in a way a sad commentary on our society. The program has served as a rare glimpse of sanity while also being incredibly humorous entertaining. We'll miss you, Jon.

I feel like Jon is a big reason why the world knows that not all Americans are complete assholes.

Thanks for all the laughs man.

As Trevor Noah announces his departure of the daily show today I can truly say I have witnessed two very talented host, different styles of delivery and comedy, but both enjoyable to watch

One of the few good people on US TV and a great person.

There are two people whose equivalents I've wished India had. One is an honest government man, like José Mujica. The other, is Jon Stewart. I hope America realizes how lucky they've been to have had him all these years. He was on the air, not just to entertain you, but to console you through 9/11, to get you through the Bush years, to reclaim sanity, and to ignite real social conversations during the hardest of times. But most of all, to make you laugh when you really needed to.

A grateful salute from India, Jon. We love you here. Wish you the very best in all your endeavors.

Props to the guy that shouted "we love you jon". That was as close to a slow clap moment anyone will have these days.

Jon you'll probably never read this, but you shaped a generation. My generation. I think I can speak for most of us when I say we're happy to see you happy, but it feels like a death in our families, in some way, to see you go.

Here's hoping the next host of the Daily Show can fill a fraction of your shoes! You've left a legacy I think most men would aspire to achieve a fraction of. I'll toast to you tonight!

This was so sweet. Jon is a legend and he chose well in choosing Trevor.

I'm a grown man now, 26 years old. I've been watching you (in the mornings) for my whole life. First, my dad and I, and then just myself once I moved out. To wake up and see this... it made me smile, but a tear did roll down my cheek. There's no media personality I respect more, and I hope you cure your restlessness, and love every minute of your hard-earned family time.

I've been watching Jon Stewart 4 days a week since 1999 - the year I graduated high school and started college. He will be missed. I wish him well on whatever he will eventually decide to do.

Jon Stewart. The definition of what it is to be brilliant at what you do, humble enough to recognise your limitations and generous enough to be open to discussion. Salute.
