I was on a quest to get Lumia 950 XL to install windows on it, but after seeing this, I'm thinking of getting Surface Duo and wait for it to be somewhat completed to try it out. This thing got me too excited.

If this gentleman isn't working for Microsoft already, they need to hire him ASAP! 😎👍

The moment this gets touch support I'm installing it to my old Duo One. But now I use it just as a garden podcast player + auxiliary youtube player. My primary mobile sim carrying device is Duo 2 now.

I would definitely hope that it all works out smoothly in terms of integrating the features duo brought out (ie: phone mode, tent mode, etc) with windows 11 would be awesome. Yeah there's a niche group of us that would definitely buy Duo 1 or Duo 2 just to use it but it would definitely be a huge leap forward in terms of bringing other things to Duo and Windows 11 that perhaps wasn't possible before. I'll admit to say that what I'm about to say is a HUGE REACH. But, he did draw the attention of Microsoft and I'm not saying he definitely will but imagine him partnering up with Microsoft to help resolve (maybe what Microsoft wanted to do all along? Put windows on a mobile device [duo?/neo] and then the other issue with sideloading android apps on Windows 11? yes, that's something totally different from what he's doing but wouldn't it be cool for them to start reaching out to people like him to resolve some issues? they clearly need the help and they clearly would benefit from it. Anyway that's my rant for the day. lol #inaperfectworld #icandreamcanti

I really hope they make Duo 2 available in NZ.

But Shane, 90% of the apps you run on a phone end up being glorified web sites that Windows can display on a web browser. Meaning that with proper effort you can have a custom launcher that simply opens up the browser to a site and fool it into thinking its a mobile browser and bam, there's your app equivalent. Then you also have a more powerful browser allowing you to do far more than what a phone can. As long there's phone call support I'm sure with enough tweaking you can get a decent experience minus the gaming portion which for some users is a non requirement. I don't have a single game installed on my surface duo so to me this would definitely be interesting.

As much as I would like to see windows on the duo I don't think I will ever install it on mine. I feel android works amazing on this device and makes it alot more of a laptop replacement than I ever thought. I feel adding windows to it this will be a backwords step just because of the app gap.

Nice! When are you going to install it?

Almost time for me to buy a Duo. Go Windows 11! BTW, I am surprised scaryifiteral
is covering this, as he didn't like the idea of Windows on Duo in the past.

Setting up my Duo and for some reason I can not find/get the iFit app. Have it on my old Samsung phone, have it on my Samsung tablet. Standard Android app. All other apps were transferred from my phone to the Duo, but iFit is neither transferred nor available in the store?

there should be functionality to use it like a phone still, for people (such as myself) who want to keep it “similar” to its previous self

Makes you wonder if this had the backing of a Microsoft team what we could get.

Hmm would downloading a Android emulator bridge that gap for dual boot?

Also I wonder how ChromeOS would work considering it has support for Android apps

The work done here is impressive, my question still remains: What's the use case? Mouse input on those tiny screens is not good.... even if the touch gets working, I don't see a reason to do this.

This is a big deal.
Of course I don't want to work on that tiny screen, but imagine if i go to office, without a laptop, plug my phone into a dock and it became a computer, full windows 11 on arm is there.
I can do a whole lot of work with it.
If microsoft throw out a phone running windows 11 and have performance of a M1 chip, I gonna buy it.

Maybe this would've been cool in 2011. But having windows 11 on a touchscreen device is no longer a novelty.
