NBC political analyst Steve Schmidt joined TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb to weigh in on the Democratic political upset in New York on Tuesday when 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unseated 10-term Rep. Joe Crowley. Could such an upset — with today’s strong division among left and ring wing politics — work in President Trump’s favor? “I think it’s bad for the country. It could be good for Trump,” Schmidt said.

Remember that Steve Schmidt has been wrong about nearly everything he's said in public for the past many years. Also remember that he's the genius behind picking Sarah Palin to be the VP candidate - this is the kind of intellect you are listening to here.

This is probably the worst journalistic review of Ocasio-Cortez’s UPSETTING win.

I usually agree with most of what Steve Schmidt says, but this time he is out of step. I do not see taking care of the poor, working class and vulnerable as far left. We are the children of the pioneers and visionaries who sought to build a country free of prejudice and privilege. Being of the "boomer" generation I have seen what happens when the "privileged" go unchecked.

You heard that right folks...working class policies are far left and far right in 2018? Am I missing something here? Hilarious.

This guy thought Hillary would win by more than 400 electoral votes and believed that Congress would be overly democratic. Ha!

She's not far left. She would be a moderate in europe. She seems far-left only because america is a far-right fascist state.

Didn't Steve make Sarah Palin mainstream and worked for the Bush Administration? Why are we taking this guy seriously again?

Just look at the votes. Seems like she's rather popular. Popular to the point when criticizing her causes mass downvotes.

Affordable healthcare and education, getting money out of politics makes everyday people wet the bed

I think Steve means well. He's just so stuck in that Washington bubble. He doesn't get it, that the US by policy, and worldly standards. Is actually pretty far right. IE, I'm a Canadian Conservative, and I would be more inclined to vote for Bernie Sanders.
