Probably the best video on the subject, the game did a 180 for me after I followed your tips and everything is way easier and more fun, thanks!

beginner tip: all players start with the .270 Stradivarius in their weapons locker right of the bat (if you look at it in the store the green tick by the weapon shows you already own it), so its actually free. you will need to earn some rifle score to unlock to polymer tip rounds though.

As an old timer in the game, (years of level 60) I come back to basic info like this. Always pick up some useful stuff. Thanks for ALL that you put on YouTube and other places.

A friend made a suggestion that has been game-changing for me. Instead of opening the lookout towers at the beginning, he avoids all outlooks until he has searched the entire reserve for need zones. It's much more difficult to find all the need zones after the map has been opened up (meaning, the shading has disappeared). However, by waiting to open the lookout towers you can easily see where you have been and avoid missing some important need zones. By the time you are ready to open the lookout towers your map will be completely full of need zones. We have found it is best to avoid tracking animals or walking in weird patterns until the reserve is open. We divide the reserve into squares and travel outside of the square due north-south vertically and east-west horizontally. Additionally, you are more likely to find some great spots from which to hunt that you might otherwise have not discovered. We've identified best spots for high ground, best spots for tree stands, best spots for night feeding, etc. Neither my friend nor I are what you would call "grinders, " but we've learned that the secret is NEED ZONES. Thanks, Lady, for all your great vids. I've learned a great deal from you.

Even when the maps are dark/grayed out you can still often tell where the outposts are if you just look for the offshoots/dead end paths of the main trails.

If you see one, more often than not that is going to either be an info point OR an outpost so you don't necessarily have to always go to the outlooks first!

Great tips Lady, wish I knew these things when I started. Luckily your other guides have been very helpful to say the least.
I'm level 60 now and have 13 diamonds in the bag, . I actually started with the 270, it came free when I purchased COTW in the Playstation store January sale around 3 weeks ago. Thanks again.

My beginner tip is to take advantage of need zones, i didnt do anything with them when i was new and it was difficult finding any animals.

A big one here is shot placement taking your time when aiming especially closing distance and understanding vital locations on the animals will help a ton when you first start

Just picked this game up a week ago, already got 30+ hours in it and got a few friends into it and have been having a blast. First friend I played with we both started on Medved after going through the reserve list, because that's what sounded interesting to him, next couple buddies wanted to do Mississippi because we're all southern boys and gators are common around here, and I've been doing Hirschfelden solo since it was the first map. To put it bluntly, LOTS of slow gameplay, stalking, messing up approaches due to obstructed views, having to try a quick shot on a spooked animal, overall a great simulation to real life idiots learning how to hunt :P (Fun though)

Holy cow silver ridge peaks blew me away when we loaded into it the first time yesterday. I had heard it was easier but WOW. We loaded into the middle of the road and were SURROUNDED by animals, everytime I was tracking down or getting to a kill I'd look around and see another hunting opportunity. If I could recommend any one thing to new players or people who've tried the game and found it too difficult to get into/find animals, learn on silver ridge peaks. It's a completely different game, the learning curve isn't NEARLY as harsh.

There are two ways of playing this game, the fast way where you want to be able to fast travel between locations and then there is the slower way. I personally love exploring new maps with friends and getting to see things that might be missed if i joined other peoples maps where tents had been placed. If your a player who likes to try and grind for the great one or get diamonds then that style of play is certainly the way to go, if your a player who just likes to hunt then don't rush get to know your surroundings that way you might find potential hotspots of your own or maybe places you can use as prime hunting locations if or when you decide to grind for the great one's.

I have just gotten back into call of the wild. I bought it when it first dropped. I've been looking at videos for the past few days since I'm fairly new still, and you have by far the most informative video EVER!!! Thank you!

I just got the hunter call of the wild and it is my new favorite game I believe. I've already spent probably 4 hours playing and it is very entertaining. I'm limited in money for dlc though. Hard to choose
