SKYRIM - 5 Cosmology Facts You May Not Know (Elder Scrolls Lore & Secrets)

The universe of the Elder Scrolls is a vast and incomprehensible place.

The provinces of Morrowind, Cyrodiil, Skyrim, etc. are contained within Tamriel. Far away from Tamriel lies Akavir, Atmora, Yokuda, Pyandonea, Lyg, and Aldmeris, all of which are contained in the planet Nirn. Beyond Nirn are the moons Masser and Secunda - the corpse of Lorkhan, as well as the planets of the 8 divines - Akatosh, Arkay, Dibella, Julianos, Kynareth, Mara, Stendarr, and Zenithar. Surrounding Mundus, the mortal realm, is Oblivion. Here lie the vast realms of the Daedric Princes - Sheogorath his Shivering Isles, Hermaeus Mora and Apocrypha, Molag Bal and Coldharbour, Mehrunes Dagon and the Deadlands, and more. Finally, surrounding all else is Aetherius - the plane of magic - wherein lies Sovngarde and other such places. All of this makes up the Elder Scrolls universe - otherwise known as Aurbis.

In this video, I discuss 5 facts about the universe of the Elder Scrolls that will hopefully help you to understand it better. As always, be sure to leave any feedback in the comments below! :D

The Elder Scrolls can come across as generic at first glance but in reality they have some of the most interesting and unique lore I've ever come across. I have no idea why Bethesda does not touch on this more.

One small mistake. The Magna-Ge are not Aedra. They're simply the et'Ada who fled Creation.

This is why I love The Elder Scrolls series. The Lore itself. So much to take in. Even in the individual games themselves i.e. Skyrim, Oblivion etc.... You find little hidden secrets. and theories as you make your way around. You can stumble upon a humble shack with an old woman who turns out she's a witch if you dig a little deeper. I fell in love with these games when Skyrim first came out.

It sounds like an intense version of mythology. Remember, we used to think that the world revolved around us, and our planets are named after gods.

I would love for you to do more like this. Discussing and explaining the lore, Cosmology and so on of the elder scrolls. I've been a fan of elder scrolls since morrowwind when I was a kid and through all the years I've played to the upcoming remaster of skyrim, I didn't even know half of this stuff and now I want more. I absolutely love the way you do your videos and I hope you will do more like this on the universe, events, times, lore and much more of the elder scrolls.

Wow that was amazing. The quality of your videos is good. In my opinion you make the best lore videos :)
Oh one question though. How many Elder Scrolls games did you play?
Have a great day :)

That is really cool. In the worlds I have created (for DnD, stories, etc) I have never really considered the sky, stars, and planets. It's really cool how the creators of TES went so in depth into the lore of their world that they even covered minute details such as the stars and planets. Again, really cool.

Question here: does Talos have a planet ?

When Vivec speaks of the 'Wheel-On-Its-Side' I generally assumed he was speaking of the actual galaxy as whole... if not that then definitely more meta concepts are in order.

I love watching you're videos about the lore of Nirn and the Elder Scolls as a whole. I've learned more from you in the last couple of months (since I subscribed) than I have from the games! I really enjoyed the couple of videos you made about the Daedra, I hope you plan on continuing that!

I'm not highly fluent in Elder Scrolls Lore so please forgive me if my questions sound stupid...I was just wondering:

Question 1: What is outside Aetherius? Is there another plane of existence of some kind, or is there nothing at all beyond Aetherius?

Question 2: Has any mortals actually set foot on Nirn's moons or the varies planets? By the use of very powerful magic E.G portals or the possibly spaceships created by the Draves?

Question 3: How big is Nirn? In the video it was stated that the other planets were infinitely massive. I was just wondering that since Nirn is the mortal plane, is it somethin of exception? I.E not infinity? Or is Nirn also Infinity in size?

I know those questions may seem very stupid, but I was genuinely curious. I'In sorry if I misspelled anything, I apologise.

But regardless of my questions, can I just say that the Elder Scrolls's Lore is EPIC! It is fascinating and isn't like any other franchise I've come across. It's amazing! :)

So, the entire ES universe is created as a dream of a great being. The planets are very reminiscent of electrons orbiting a nucleus. Add to that, the odd behavior of the different continents surrounding Tamriel (quantum mechanics, anyone?).

The entire universe sounds like it's a pocket dimension located in an atom.

Everything you said is wrong, or is it? Wrong can be right, and right can be wrong. But you've done a good job, or have you? Nonetheless, CHEESE FOR EVERYONE, oh no, scratch that, cheese for no one. Now get out of here, you're making my teeth itch.
