How To Disable MIUI Optimizations
Enable Developer settings
Open developer settings
Scroll to the bottom of the page
Disable MIUI optimization as shown in the video.

For some reason after doing this my battery icon goes white, so I had to change the % to be on the side. Otherwise it's barely visible inside
