Why I Regret Buying Into The M4/3 Camera System

This is why I regret buying into the m4/3 camera system. It's a great little system for video, but it has some major downsides. For the price, there was nothing better than the Panasonic G85 at the time, but now that my needs have changed a bit, it's hard to imagine I will stay with the micro four thirds system. Panasonic vs Canon was an easy choice, but I think I made the wrong one. Panasonic vs Sony wasn't really an option, but I still probably would have been happier with the Sony.

It's not the wrong system, it's the wrong lens. I'm just back from a several week bicycle trip (some of the healthiest things you can do, by the way) and my favorite lens was the 12mm/1.4. It's just amazing what you can do with this lens. AF is great (on my GH5). For photos in low light situations, the stabilization is like a tripod for up to a second. For video in low light, it's absolutely perfect. If I need some even wider angle, I have the Laowa 7.5mm/2.0. This is fully manual and needs more work but it is so unbelievable small - I love it. Those two lenses would work much better for your needs. That 25mm is to long and will never be a vlogging lens.

But we all know: The grass on the other side of the fence is greener, a new bicycle would bring me better over those mountains, a new GPS-system would find the roads better...

What's up VP, I just switched from g85 to a6500 with 10-18 and love it. Auto focus was the main reason. I also picked up the sigma 30mm 1.4 and it's beautiful. Filming with this setup for now.

I shoot professionally with M43. I switched from FF a few yrs ago. You have plenty of great options for video. The professional lenses are half the price. The Oly 17 1.2 Pro is the cats nipples. Or the Panny 12-35 2.8 used for $500. You could even use the 17 1.8 for $250.

One reason why m4/3 lenses are still expensive is because of the glass. Due to the closer distance between the sensor and lens, the glass has to be sharper compared to APS-C and full frame.
