I've had this my whole life and basically everything sets it off. My eyes are always sore, gunky and itchy, seal overnight and swell up almost daily and I have blurred vision regularly. mine has also given me ulcers on and in my eyes and put me in hospital a few times. I also have bad hayfever, asthma and severe eczema all over me which doesnt help at all. I've always had regular check ups with eye opthalmatry and dermatology and have loads of creams, eye drops, medicines ect that help a bit.

I got this when I was about 4 years old by 6 I had to go to a special consultant who said my eyes were one of the worst he ever saw. The underneath of my eyelids had bumps on them, sometimes my eyes would swell so much I couldnt close my eye lids properly. Im in my 20s now and finally growing out of it

I have only one very itchy eye, with a bit of redness, nothing too serious as the itching part which is really horrible. other eye is not so much affected I barely feel the itching. I think it's caused by allergies because I had this condition 4 months ago and I tested for fungus and bacteria and I was clean, I got some corticosteroid drops but nothing helped for a month. Then I had to clean entire house because I don't know wat caused it and it disappeared after a few days. Now it appeared this morning again while sleeping in a room in which I was a day ago without symptoms. Could it be that there is some dirt in the air that doesn't cause allergies one day but the other day it just somehow does? Is there some permanent solution like some filters or something?

My eyes are so sensitive. Most of the time, it is itchy. Sometimes it feels like there's a sand inside and so I'd rub it really hard. And then I'd this white lump on my eyeballs. Is there anyway to stop the itching of my eyes? It happens randomly

I got this since 10. Now I'm 22, it costs me so much. Artificial tears isn't cheap also.

Thank you for mentioning rebound injection! So many of my patients inadvertently make their symptoms worse by using certain drops.

*update 10 august 2020*

i never saw replies to this comment. i ended up going to an ophthalmologist to get checked out. ended up finding that i have glaucoma at 20 years old.

so my chronically red eyes ended up being a blessing in disguise. glaucoma is known as the thief of sight because the disease slowly takes away your vision, and sometimes, the only time people notice they have the disease is when they can’t see anymore.

my eyes still get annoyingly red sometimes, but at least i have my glaucoma under control with medication. it’s a fair trade off in my opinion.

My child gets pink eye from allergies for the past 3 years now. It's so frustrating...
His eyes will seal shut sometimes at night, and he pry 's them open in the morning.

Edit: it's also nearly impossible to explain to people what it is, because they have their mind already set that it's contagious and it's from poop. Even had a Dr tell me "oh, you can't get pink eye from allergies".

I am having allergic connectivity for the last 5 yrs. So far, I have seen 10 docs, but none of the treatments have worked for me so far. My eyes start red and hurt under the following situations:


When the room is dry and hot.
When Weather is hot,
when I spend more time in front of the computer or using cell phone.
when there are bacteria inside the room or around.


My eyes turn to red:


After taking a shower,
Going out in hot weather,
When the air is polluted.
Spend time in front of the computer.
when looking at the cell phone screen too much.


Most of my physicians said me you don't have any problem and just don't worry. (btw, my eye vision is 1.5+)
But, I quit my jobs many times due to a severe eye problem. Because I can't look at the computer screen a long time.
Only one of my physicians told me that I do have vernal connuctivit. Does anyone ever faced such a problem and found any treatment? Thanks in Advance.

Sorry to break you the news, it is NEVER going away. But, from time to time, the specific pollen that causes these eye allergies, some years it could be less or more. So, depending how bad that pollen is in the environment, you will have less or more symptoms. I couldn't empathize with you more. I have severe allergies, starts from late March to early June, and right now I am having that. One of my eye is only 1/10th of the other eye, it is inflammed, red, ithchy, sticky, dry, and feels like somebody put a lot of small rocks in it. But, it is not any solid debris in it, but a string like, flexible, white material forms when I rub my eye, and that feels like rocks in my eyes, and when it comes out, it is a relief. But then again within few mins, when I itch hard again, the same thing happens, rubbing the eye is almost inevitable. These couple of months makes me disabled with eye allergies, rhinitis, and only rarely attacks my lungs, and that causes me allergic asthma, I could not enjoy the warm weather at all, which is too short in New Jersey.
