How to Grow Mushrooms in a Monotub

Показать описание
This video gives a quick 3-minute rundown on how to grow mushrooms in an unmodified monotub. This super easy tek uses only coco coir and grain spawn in a plastic tote. Once the substrate is fully colonized and white with mycelium, just mist for humidity and fan for fresh air. It is important to start with high quality grain spawn and proper moisture content in your coco coir. This method is great for beginners and requires no prior experience, but it only works well for a select number of species. This video is meant as an overview, so please let us know if you have any questions!

Needed supplies:

Best video, short concise straight full of information.

Colonizing substrate does not need any light or air fanning, it’s faster in dark.

First time in my life i hear that the mycelium need so much fresh air to expand. i thought that until the pining, you require more CO2 than the rest of the fruiting process. Even if you see how nature does it, first the mycelium that is inside the ground under a fat layer of dead materials it builds co2 and the pins form. The reason that they grow and get taller is that they want to reach oxygen, so they can spread their spores.

Last night I grated down some brf cakes and added it to some hydrated coco. Instead of using a plastic tub, I'm trying a 10 gallon terrarium. I'm gonna play by ear to see how well it holds humidity and make it up as I go from there. I have a few other tubs goin. I just thought I'd try the glass terrarium with the mesh top and see how that does, ya know? For science

Why is it other people's ways are better (i.e. comments)! Good job man 👍

Thanks for the information but I'm a bit confused but convinced I can do this, because it is the most common sense to me! Every video with the mono tub has holes, this one doesn't. So is it something extra I would have to do for it to fruit?

Hey hey hey I posted on here maybe a month ago right. And I wanna say thank you because my first time growing was great. So many damn mushrooms I had to give three jars away

U didn't explain when u go from inoq stage to fruiting stage to increase the humidity and air and light

So are the holes in the tub not necessary? I bought an inflatable tub for my first grow (which does have them) but was preparing to modify some containers for my next... I'd love to skip that step 😅

This seems like a neglect type of tek, Fyi I am not trying to come off rude at all just informative, I’m just wondering why your sub hight is so low, that would cause fast dehydration of your grow it should be around at least 3-4 inches in hight, there should also be a casing layer to better prevent contamination, as well as pasteurizing your coir to help with that as well, one last thing is using a liner would prevent side pinning by all means I am no expert but I have been growing mushrooms for the past 5 years so I hope this helps!

Can you use straw instead of co-coir? Also I saw elsewhere you should have some holes in the lid for the breathing, is this true?

I'm thinking about growing mushrooms

Hello . Only Coco? So vermiculite, perlite, vermicompost, gypsum, peat moss, !!!?

do you need to drill holes on the monotub? or I can just open the lid everyday to let air flows in and just add moisture in it?

I would increase the thickness to 4 inches and add a liner. Also a top casing layer will help to prevent dehydration.

So manure is not needed? Sorry another brand newbie here, you just made it look so easy.
