Is The Sprint Booster Worth It?

I'm always seeing a debate on if the Sprint Booster actually does anything or is it just a waste of money. Well, in this video I put it to the test with some good old fashioned 0-60 times. Three runs with it turned off and three runs with it turned on. So watch the results and decide for yourself.

I have installed Sprint Boosters in my 2009 supercharged Miata and now in my newly supercharged 2019 Miata Retractable Fastback and they make a great difference. They eliminate the throttle lag and sharpen the throttle response immensely. Highly recommended!

I thought the same thing during your first run. It seemed to me that it probably works better with an automatic. I wouldn't trade the manual though. It makes the car sportier I feel.

I have Sprint booster installed in 2 of my vehicles and have gotten good results. The 1st one is a 2010 Porsche Cayman S 3.4 L with a 6 speed manual and is set in the 2nd mode. This made a big difference in the throttle response, as the throttle didn't do a whole lot in the 1st third depressing the throttle beforehand and afterwards it was like a direct connection 1 to 1. The 2nd one is a 2012 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 L base cab that I've setup to do autocross with, and that is in 2nd mode 6th setting and that woke it right up. I tried the race mode with this install and the Tacoma leaped off the line and pulled hard in 2nd gear also. I have no run times, but I could tell when the response got a whole lot better. Race mode is only suited for the track, as in traffic wouldn't be advisable for most.

I like how different videos have different results with different cars

Hey mike! I’m from Brazil and I have a 06 Pontiac solstice 2.4 and I really liked your channel! Here in Brazil there’s only 45 units of this car in particular so no one knows much about. Your channel is helping me do the work on the car myself. Thank you and keep up the good videos!

I've been using a sprintbooster in my MX5 Miata because I like how it makes the throttle feel more responsive around town. Other than that, it doesn't affect the actual performance of the car since it does nothing to make the car faster. If you were really fast with your throttle, you'd achieve the same thing. That being said, the sprintbooster does a great job of making the car feel more responsive when gassing it, and that's why I've been using mine. It's true that in a manual, your launches and shift times affect your 0-60 time greatly. Oh, another thing that I like with the sprintbooster is that it helps me rev match downshift as well as heel-toe easier because I don't have to dip into my throttle that far to get a good amount of revs going.

Thanks for the informative video. Couple things since you made it, Do you still have it installed, any problems with it and have you noticed an increase in gas mileage. Thanks

Nice update Mike. I have been thinking of adding this to my Solstice GXP.
I do have this booster on my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi. I have not done a 0-60 test as of yet. It certainly makes the throttle way more responsive and overrides the computers delay. Makes it fun to drive. I run my setting on the Sport mode 7.
Cheers.

I love mine! I have a redline with a manual shift, it definitely makes a difference in throttle response...instant power...no more choaking on launchs! Thanks Mike another good one!

That second time in sport mode u were shifting too soon that's why the time increased it is better to push thru each gear and shift quicker to really increase acceleration time. I just installed the sprint booster on my Ford Fusion and man what an improvement I love it lol

I had it on my E90 for 4 years. Works great but it went bad recently. I don’t know if they will check on it

As someone pointed out. Better banchmark is with automatic trans, because here your shifting may not be consistent. From the sound of it you even overreved it a couple of times, so time lost there.

Mike, have a question, the display window in my sky tach. cluster information light is intermittently on/off and I saw your video installing electronics and noticed the dash completely open, any idea how I might gain access to the light in question without tearing the dash apart. Thanks

Hi Mike - as usual, your videos are very helpful and insightful. In agreement with your final comment, I am curious to see the results of the booster from an automatic (turbo) car as well 🚗. I'll be staying tuned in for new updates, and keep up the good work buddy! The Kappa community loves ya'.

Were the tyres slipping in any of the runs?
Maybe because of the sprint booster there was more slipping?
Hails from greece, keep it up

Good video the reinformative but I do have to say Sprint booster has been known to give most cars check engine light as pedal commander usually stays pretty well controlled in that area and have never had an issue reported unlike Sprint booster and two of my mechanics both recommended pedal commander over sprint booster for several reasons so in my opalways go pedal commander versus Sprint booster also about Eco mode if you have a car that have an actual eco button eco button does the same thing that a pedal commanders eco button does slows the response because if you know anything about cars The less throttle you give the better you are on efficiency another reason why pedal commander isn’t a better option for older vehicles that don’t have such button like eco or sport Plus the visual of being able to see what mode you have it in also the selector is not hard or confusing at all

That is surprising and unexpected. Thought it would give some improvement (about a second was what I thought), kept watching with anticipation, and its result was disappointing. Good video Mike. Thanks for your videos always. It tells a good tale, whether we like the results or not 🙂👍
