Can't wait to see how the winter goes, I've heard mixed issues.

Very cool. One of these days I'll get a hitch for mine. Need it for some home projects. The Bolt fits a lot, but not a stack of 2x4s or sheets of plywood.

I can't wait till a reliable-ish used electric car gets under 10k somewhere in my vicinity. I live in a very truck-happy part of Texas.

Thank you for always sharing. Also for acknowledging the complexities if electric vehicles. Intelligent take as always.

Thanks for sharing! I bought a used BMW i3 in the last few years and have been wondering if I need to buy a truck in addition when I start more homesteading in the next year...looks like I can hack it!

I’ve been driving a 2019 Chevy Volt I bought almost 5 years ago, it only had 3000 miles and I paid $19k . I’ve got 85k miles on it now, it has been a phenomenal vehicle. It is a hatchback with huge hatch. Like you, I pack the thing full many times, it’s got a lot of payload. I installed a hitch and pull 5x8 aluminum utility trailer, and also take it out west pulling a motorcycle camper. Who can pull a camper getting 40mpg? I still prefer hybrids to full electric vehicles but, but for around town you can’t beat EV.

I use my Nissan Leaf in a similar way with a fringe benefit --- I power my house in a pinch via the DC fast charge port. This to me is the ideal intersection of solar power and transport. Bring the energy home from a charger if needed, travel on sunlight if the house doesn't need as much juice that day, multiple days worth of backup power without a noisy generator, etc. This isn't exactly doable for everybody, but ... boy does it work well when the right circumstances exist.

People are always surprised by the power of electric motors. Electric cars have high torque motors often with pretty darn high HP. For instance, my old Tesla Model Y made close to 500hp with 500 lb/fts of torque. That's what a F-250 makes. No problem pulling really heavy loads. The main limitation to towing with these is suspension and brakes. You have to be mindful of the payload capacity of your tow vehicle. But, as far as sheer pulling power, no problem pulling that much weight.

I love how you express your take on things and the why behind it all. I’m pretty against electric vehicles for many complex reasons, but if they can be used to power a home/portion of one on the back end… it makes more sense. that doesn’t negate the social issues surrounding the things, but it definitely makes more sense for your context.

Y’all are doing great things. God bless yall. I appreciate the work that goes into consistently cranking out videos through a hectic farm schedule mot to mention the tiny human being added to the mix.

Y’all look more like garden superheroes every day. Haha many blessings.

I build large 51.2v lfp modules out of used car and industrial LFP. I also build 16kwh 300a powerwalls using 280-300ah eve cells... there is great options once your car kicks it just don't supercharge it... .3c is all I would push it.

$7 per round trip saved. 2000 round trips and you've saved the entire cost.

Be sure to put it in neutral on a down hill, and use the mechanical brakes, at least once a week. Keeps them clean and free of rust, increases the life.

I do this with my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta diesel… I bought it for 3k and get 40 mpg.

If you are sitting on the buttery it is probably worse for your health than emissions....you would not sit on your sell phone..., I hope the buttery is in the very back in your car, but usually they put them under the driver seat...

Unpopular opinion here, but you honestly couldn't pay me to have an electric car, I've seen these things explode in real life, no warning, just immediate & complete devastation. Let alone being so reliant on the manufacturer & mega-corporations for all maintenance issues. And finally all the battery production has a huge carbon footprint meaning building an electric vehicle does more damage to the environment than a gas car. Appreciate your video updates, but it's beyond me why people would choose these vehicles when prioritizing safety &

Man, its a bit sad to see you having to be so cagey.
There is no "agenda" to be pushed - electric vehicles are better for most applications.
Facts are not some contentious political thing.
