When Ben Shapiro Got HUMBLED About Jesus

William Lane Craig and Ben Shapiro talked about Jesus. They looked at what Jewish people thought the Messiah would be like, if Jesus really came back to life, and why Jesus was killed. Ben had to think about how Jesus is described in the Bible, which made him think about his own beliefs as a Jewish person.

Wondering what facts about Jesus William Lane Craig is talking about? Watch this:

When your answer to facts about the Messiah is “I don’t care. They’re really boring” then you have valued your own pride over the most important truth in life.

Man it's so impressive to see the youth following Jesus Christ

I believe Ben hit it on the head when he said that Jesus does not fit the Jewish narrative of who they believe the Messiah will be. That is the whole point. Jesus came to fulfill God the Father's plan, not man's plan. That is why the Jewish leaders and the people rejected Jesus. He would not fit their narrative or their plans for who the Messiah should be.

What I like most about William Lane Craig is that there isn't an ounce of pride or arrogance in his tone. Just passion. A true Christian.

It is not that they cannot believe, it is that they will not believe.

He didn’t lead a revolt against Rome he said render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar

Further, not only did the apostles have a complete reversal in their understanding of the resurrection of Christ. They also gave their lives for his witness. No one does that for a lie.

As a nation, I think the Jews missed Jesus because they were looking for a political figure rather than a saving from sin figure.

The problem with Ben's take on Jesus as a usurper (or leader of a revolt) can be pointed out in multiple events:

1. Jesus stated His Kingdom is not from this world. Had it been so, His followers would've revolted in order to free Him. They did not.

2. The Pharisees tested Jesus multiple times in an attempt to get Jesus to openly declare Himself as an enemy or usurper of the Roman government. Jesus made clear leaders have their place in the world, give what belongs to Cesar, to Cesar, and what belongs to God, to God. The Jewish leaders tried to project their dissension of Roman rule onto Jesus and failed miserably.

3. Jesus' number of followers dwindled as time passed during His ministry. Many of them, including His Apostles and even His own cousin (John the Baptist), became disillusioned due to their understanding of the Messiah as a political figure to establish Israel's dominance.

4. Jesus' followers chose not to rebel, but to accept their persecution by Jewish leaders as well as the Roman Empire. If Jesus was truly dead, they would not have gone on to establish early Christianity at all. His Apostles and Disciples were all in hiding in fear of being the next one to be tried and executed. His resurrection invigorated them to the point they were willing to die for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

5. Gamaliel was the top scholar in the Sanhedrin when John and Peter were questioned by this group. He told them to let these Apostles be and gave examples of seditious cult leaders whose cults ended when they died. Gamaliel made it clear that if this was the case, their "cult" would die once its leaders were executed. But if not, it was from God and no man could stop this movement.

More examples can be listed, but this is a long enough comment already. It's safe to say that Ben's claim is categorically false.

The irony in this is that a Christian Nation ended up reestablishing Israel and giving Jews back their promise land.
