if I remember right, Seth's first headbutt was into Toivos chest. Toivo was wearing his armor. Seth was not wearing a helmet and still drove back the larger primaris marine.

Okay, a lot of people are missing the point. Seth was upset because the primaris marine kept acting like everything was beneath him. They were only accepted after two conditions were met: Seth made him full of Rage. Then Seth made him realize that they could actually be lost to that Rage, which instilled a very primal Fear into him.
