I met the guy who had the patent for hydro seeding. He was an engineer at a pulp and paper mill. Very unassuming guy. If he got rich from it you wouldn’t know it.

I bought a bunch of old hay and straw that my neighbors cows would eat.
Spread it evenly around the yard and gave it a good soaking. Now with just rain and grey water, I have green yard for the dogs and it’s the desert.
I wanted to put down a few inches of cardboard first, but the hay showed up first. Instead I made a slurry of the cardboard and let it flood the area, I had to pull out some tap and tags, but now it’s invisible and absorbed nicely.
