The hydro seeding crews around me team up with construction companies to get jobs.

The hydroseeding also works well for hills and holding it together until the hill gets grass together

I never knew what this was called but I was riding a bike with my ex one day and she was convinced this was not grass seed 😂😭😭😭

I know a two-time millionaire who offers this on the side of his construction and concrete company. Smart move, honestly. Same customer for at least three different jobs.

This is a good alternative I've done it in the past with excellent results in these time with everything else rising in cost seed is out the roof but way better then laying sod I've done both. When I did it we charged .10 per SQ ft it's probably around .25 or .30 now better than sod at 150 dollars or more for 400 SQ ft of sod

I built my hydro seeding setup for just over $400. I charge $.22 a square foot for lawn install seeding local. First job I used it was on 5500 square ft install. Do the math paid it’s first job and still put money in the pocket

It’s more for commercial and housing projects, seeding many many acres at a time

Don't waste your time or money. Part of any seeding process is trusting that the customer will water it as directed. I've seen my fair share of lawns that were dry as a bone and the customer swears they watered, it must be our fault that it didn't grow.

Worked for a hydro seeding company, they charged 15 cents per square foot and could do about 30-60 thousand square feet per day. 🤑 pretty easy work, also learned how to run the machine after about a day.

I hydroseed con sites for dust control ! Besides that I don’t see any residential use for it, plus the equipment you will need is over 100k

If you did this in california you'd be rich, everything grass related is basically dead outside of cities

I have helped folks out with this before, if you're looking to do hydroseeding my advice is to reach out to construction companies and if possible, strip mines, natural gas mines, etc. if you have any in your area. I've only done it a couple of times so I'm by no means an expert but if you're interested in this I wish you the best.

Curlex is another way to grow grass. Put your good soil down, throw down a ton of seed, lay this stuff over the top and it keeps the grass seed from washing out, being eaten or blowing away. It dissolves and leaves only a netting behind. I’m sure it isn’t as fast as Hydroseeding and some other trade offs, but nearly no equipment involved other than a spreader, hammer, and nails so it’s a bit easier to start doing to hold you over till you get the hydroseed equipment.

" hardest thing is finding customers"

That's always the hardest thing😂😂😂

We use to do this at the landscaping company I worked at. Grows super quick and beautiful if done at the right time of year. The hydroseeding machines are usually 10k+ but its easy work. Usually new homes that are being built like to be hydroseeded

It's pretty fantastic. Within a couple days you've got grass sprouting.

That $20-30/h sounds right for the mid-experienced tech putting it down. The contractor is likely booking 10x that and setting up the job for/w the tech.

The only time I've seen this when they are doing construction on a housing development and they have just set down the road. The spray it along the right of way

Hydroseed sucks. One good rain and its gone. Seed, fertilizer and hay works 20 times better.

I’ve seen the DOT do this to the side of a highway. They have a big tanker truck full of the mixture and it has a nozzle that sprays it on the edge of the road.
