working as a barista at starbucks i contracted a bowel infection so bad, that i was sent to the hospital with sepsis. a coworker who made my food on my breaks admitted she never used proper ppe when she cleaned those horrid bathrooms. claiming it didnt matter because “no one ever gets sick”
she literally quit after i got sick and ghosted me. i now have terrible IBS :)

the bathroom thing is so real. my friend worked at one in Portland and they once had a dude lock himself in the bathroom, climb up into the ceiling, and crawl around up there. they had to evacuate and the cops had to come and flush (🥁) him out.

The messed up thing is I worked at Starbucks and our sister location down the street DID have some guy come in with a machete chasing his girlfriend 😭 A bystander actually got between them and took the hit for the girl to his collarbone and almost died. Thankfully he survived!!! And the girl was fine too and extremely thankful. The dude ended up going to prison.

Lol. As teen in the 90s I only went to 90s - early 2000s Starbucks with friends. Hated and still hate coffee, never bought anything.
In 2020s Starbucks, I go in on my own, sit for hours doing work, and buy non coffee offerings. I did so much grad school work at now-Starbucks, and can finally use all the gift cards I get to their as a teacher.
Love new Starbucks.
